Organizations Filed Purposes: To ensure the legacy of the art form, Earshot Jazz cultivates a vibrant jazz community by engaging audiences, celebrating artists, and supporting arts education. Formed in 1984 Earshot Jazz pursues its mission by presenting creative music, publishing a monthly magazine, providing education programs, identifying and filling career needs for artists, and increasing listenership.

Concerts & Events: The Earshot Jazz organization is respected for balancing 32 years of forward thinking concert presentations with many services to the community. Earshot presented over 100 events in 2019 including the 31st annual Earshot Jazz Festival which featured performances by many well known musicians. Earshot presented the 31st annual Concert of Duke Ellington's Sacred Music, the longest running presentation of this music in the country, which features an all-star big band, guest vocal soloist, gospel choir, and tap dancer. Earshot presented the Jazz: The Second Century series which presents new music by resident artists with the goal to expand and question the conventional boundaries and parameters of the jazz form.

Community Leadership & Special Projects: Earshot activities include commissioning of new works, producing an annual jazz awards program, booking and consulting with other festivals, providing grant assistance to artists and networking with the regional, national, and international jazz community through consortia work, panels, advocacy activities. In 2019 Earshot produced the 29th annual Golden Ear Awards to recognize achievements in the Seattle and Puget Sound region and to induct significant members of the jazz community into the local Jazz Hall of Fame. In 2019 Earshot Jazz provided grant support and fiscal sponsor services to artists and organizations in the region. Earshot Jazz also provided media support for several other community jazz events.

Publication & Communications: Earshot Jazz is an award winning monthly magazine containing reviews, previews, and profiles on Northwest based artists by Seattle writers, and distributed free of charge throughout the region for more than 30 years. The publication contains the most comprehensive calendar of jazz events in the region. The magazine is available in email format and on earshot.org. The organization's website also contains links to local jazz artists, organizations, and other members of the Seattle jazz community, as well as information on upcoming events. Several Earshot Jazz concerts were broadcast on radio on Jazz Northwest show from Jim Wilke's recordings of the Art of Jazz Series and festival concerts. Earshot Jazz photographer Daniel Sheehan continues to publish the Eyeshot Jazz photo blog eyeshotjazz.com to document and show photos of recent concert presentations.
