Community Based Pilot Projects - During 2019, Equal Voice Action established community-based projects with Proyecto Vida Digna (PVD) in Texas and Ubuntu Village in Louisiana. PVD provided citizenship classes, free immigration-related legal consultation, assistance for citizenship applications, and access to computer/internet resources for members. EVA staff also provided organizing training of PVD members and leaders, and helped refresh PVD's website. Ubuntu Village seeks to engage court-involved families and allies as shared Ubuntu/EVA members, support them through direct advocacy services, and train and mobilize them as "Parent Navigators" and community leaders who can lead knowledge-building, community organizing, and collective advocacy for policy change.
Digital Organizing Project - This project began in 2019 and seeks to collaborate with similar organizations and use digital organizing tools and databases to build base and common membership. The EVA website was improved and active reciprocal links were established between the website, digital advertising tools, social media and the monthly digital newsletter. A 75% increase was seen in both website users and sessions. New digital tools allowed EVA to leverage social media in new ways, resulting in a significant increase in social media activity.
