To promote wellness in LGBT communities by providing health services, connecting people to resources, fostering arts and building community.
Building a stronger LGBTQ community through connections to resources and fostering arts, and providing prevention and educational services to reduce the incidence of HIV and AIDS among gay and bisexual men in Seattle and King County, Washington.
Health Education and Support Services: Connecting people through groups, forums, workshops and referrals to support services. Gay City provided referrals to 1,860 people through the LGBTQ Resource and Referral Line and to dozens of workshops and groups, reaching more than 1,000 people. Gay City reached more than 10,000 people through targeted health education and messaging. Gay City houses an LGBTQ Center and hosted 50 different LGBTQ and HIV organizations for over 200 meetings.
HIV and STD testing: providing HIV testing and education around HIV and STI risk reduction. In 2019 Gay City provided 3,770 HIV tests and 7,045 tests for other STIs. 400 clients were screened for our PrEP Clinic, and 67 enrolled in the program.
Gender Justice League: Gender Justice League organized Trans Pride Seattle with more than 9,000 participants, conducted more than 90 trainings to 4,000 participants on civil rights for LGBTQ people, organized a Washington State Trans Leaders Summit, conducted Free Community Legal Clinics on Identity Documentation and produced Transgender Medicine Elective in conjunction with the University of Washington School of medicine CEDI. GJL also serves with and in leadership of several community-based coalitions working to meet the needs of clients across Washington State in areas of healthcare access, homelessness, employment discrimination, and incarceration.
