IN 2019, GREENROADS FOUNDATION COMPLETED 15 SUSTAINABILITY RATINGS OF DESIGN AND CONSTRUCTION PROJECTS. OF THOSE COMPLETING THE PROCESS, 6 PROJECTS TOTALING 5.5 LANE MILES WERE SUCCESSFULLY CERTIFIED, LOCATED IN CALIFORNIA AND WASHINGTON STATE, INCLUDING A LOCAL BRIDGE REPLACEMENT SERVING AS A TSUNAMI EVACUATION ROUTE. 4 STREETS IN WASHINGTON WERE ALSO DESIGNATED AS PILOT PROJECTS FOR PEDESTRIAN AND BICYCLE IMPROVEMENTS. NEW ZEALAND ALSO COMPLETED ITS FIRST CERTIFICATION ON A 5 KM HIGHWAY SECTION THROUGH A NATIONAL PARK, BECOMING THE FIRST NATION OUTSIDE OF NORTH AMERICA TO CERTIFY A PROJECT SINCE INCEPTION OF THE RATING PROGRAM. IN 2019, CERTIFIED PROJECTS PROVIDED SUBSTANTIAL SAFETY AND MOBILITY IMPROVEMENTS FOR ACTIVE TRANSPORTATION, DEMONSTRATED CLIMATE RESILIENCY, IMPROVED ACCESS TO NATURAL AND CULTURAL RESOURCES, AND HIGHLIGHTED OUTSTANDING STORMWATER QUALITY PERFORMANCE. THE TOTAL CONSTRUCTED VALUE OF COMPLETED PROJECTS IN 2019 WAS $76.7 MILLION.
IN 2019, THE GREENROADS SUSTAINABLE TRANSPORTATION EDUCATION PROGRAM CONTINUED TO DELIVER EDUCATIONAL CONTENT TO INDUSTRY PROFESSIONALS AND GOVERNMENT AGENCIES THROUGH WEBINARS, LIVE WORKSHOPS, AND PROFESSIONAL EXAMS. GREENROADS HOSTED 29 TRAINING EVENTS AND PARTICIPATED IN TECHNICAL PRESENTATIONS WITH OUR PARTNER ORGANIZATIONS WITH OVER 250 PARTICIPANTS FROM ALL OVER THE WORLD. 47 NEW INDIVIDUALS SUCCESSFULLY EARNED THEIR FIRST STP CREDENTIAL AND 4 ADVANCED TO HIGHER LEVELS OF THE CREDENTIAL. GREENROADS ALSO EXPANDED ITS TECHNICAL GUIDANCE OFFERINGS FOR PROJECTS PURSUING CERTIFICATION.
IN 2019, GREENROADS EXPANDED ITS MEMBERSHIP COMMUNITY AND CONTINUED TO COLLABORATE WITH UNIVERSITIES, PROFESSIONAL ASSOCIATION CHAPTERS, AND INDUSTRY AFFILIATES AS PARTNERS. MEMBERSHIP PROVIDES FREE PUBLICATIONS, FREE OR DISCOUNTED EDUCATIONAL BENEFITS, PROJECT RESOURCES, AND OTHER OPPORTUNITIES FOR EDUCATION, ENGAGEMENT, AND VOLUNTEERING. IN 2019, WE ESTABLISHED TECHNICAL ADVISORY COMMITTEES TO ENHANCE MEMBER ENGAGEMENT IN THE MISSION THAT SUPPORT THE ONGOING EVOLUTION OF THE RATING SYSTEM AND BOARD OF DIRECTORS.
