Organizations Filed Purposes: JUNIOR LEAGUE OF SEATTLE IS AN ORGANIZATION OF WOMEN COMMITTED TO PROMOTING VOLUNTARISM, DEVELOPING THE POTENTIAL OF WOMEN, AND IMPROVING THE COMMUNITY THROUGH THE EFFECTIVE ACTION AND LEADERSHIP OF TRAINED VOLUNTEERS. ITS PURPOSE IS EXPRESSLY EDUCATIONAL AND CHARITABLE.

TO PROMOTE VOLUNTARISM OF LOCAL WOMEN BY PROVIDING LEADERSHIP TRAINING.

WE PROVIDE TRAINING FOR OUR 1,300+ MEMBERS TO BE CATALYSTS FOR CHANGE IN OUR COMMUNITY. EXPERIENCE GAINED AS A MEMBER OF THE JUNIOR LEAGUE PROVIDES HANDS-ON TRAINING ON HOW NON-PROFITS OPERATE, INCLUDING EVENT PLANNING, FUNDRAISING, DONOR DEVELOPMENT, AND MORE. WOMEN WHO SERVE AS JUNIOR LEAGUE MEMBERS GO ON TO BE VALUABLE CONTRIBUTORS TO OUR COMMUNITY AT LARGE THROUGH BOTH IN-LEAGUE TRAININGS AS WELL AS THROUGH PARTNERSHIPS WITH OTHER MEMBER ORGANIZATIONS OF THE ASSOCIATION OF JUNIOR LEAGUES INTERNATIONAL.

THE JUNIOR LEAGUE OF SEATTLE PROVIDES DIRECT SUPPORT TO BOTH INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL COMMUNITY PROJECTS. THROUGH ONE OF OUR SIGNATURE PROGRAMS, THE NORTHWEST ART PROJECT, WE PROVIDE A MUSEUM-QUALITY TRAVELING ART EXHIBIT TO ALLOW STUDENTS AT UNDERPRIVILEGED SCHOOLS TO LEARN ABOUT, TALK ABOUT, AND INTERACT WITH FINE ART. WE ALSO PARTICIPATE IN NUMEROUS INDIVIDUAL PROJECTS THROUGH OUR DONE IN A DAY PROGRAM, WHERE WE PARTNER WITH OTHER COMMUNITY NONPROFITS, AS WELL AS PILOT AND EXECUTE ADDITIONAL PROJECTS OR PROGRAMS AIMED AT ENDING CHILDHOOD ILLITERACY.

AS A LARGE ORGANIZATION WITH 1,200 VOLUNTEER MEMBERS AND A LEGACY OF ALMOST 100 YEARS, OUR COMMUNITY REACH IS VAST. THAT IS NOT WITHOUT ADDITIONAL COSTS, SPECIFICALLY FOR OUR JUNIOR LEAGUE OFFICES. WE ALSO USE HIRED LABOR FOR SPECIFIC JOB FUNCTIONS THAT ARE BETTER PERFORMED BY EXPERTS VERSUS VOLUNTEERS. THESE FUNDS ALLOW US TO SUPPORT OUR MEMBERSHIP BY BEING PREPARED AND ABLE TO CARRY OUT OUR MISSION.
