SINCE 1921, MILLIONAIR CLUB CHARITY (MCC) HAS PROVIDED JOBS AND SUPPORTIVE EMPLOYMENT SERVICES TO PEOPLE WHO ARE HOMELESS OR UNEMPLOYED. MCC IS RECOGNIZED AS A JOBS FIRST SOLUTION TO HOMELESSNESS IN SEATTLE THAT HAS A UNIQUE COMBINATION OF PROGRAMS THAT HELP CLIENTS WITH LITTLE OR NO RESOURCES, BECOME JOB READY, AND GO OUT TO WORK WITH MCC'S TEMPORARY STAFFING SOCIAL ENTERPRISE. FOR 2019, 932 UNIQUE WORKERS EARNED A PAYCHECK THROUGH MCC'S TEMPORARY STAFFING AGENCY COMPLETING 120,320 HOURS OF WORK. IN ADDITION, 217 MEN AND WOMEN ACHIEVED A LONG TERM OR PERMANENT JOB. IT IS WORTH NOTING THAT COMMUNITY TAXPAYERS SAVE UP TO $40,000 FOR EACH PERMANENT JOB PLACEMENT FOR A TOTAL OF $8.7 MILLION.
MCC SERVES FREE BREAKFAST AND LUNCH, MONDAY THROUGH FRIDAY, IN A PROGRAM THAT IS OPEN TO ANYONE IN OUR COMMUNITY WHO IS IN NEED OF A NUTRITIOUS MEAL. IN 2019, 84,398 MEALS WERE SERVED, INCLUDING SACK LUNCHES TO WORKERS GOING OUT ON JOBS, AND A FOOD BANK FOR RESIDENTS OF MCC'S AFFORDABLE HOUSING COMPLEX - THE KASOTA. MCC'S MEALS PROGRAM IS AMONG THE TOP FIVE LARGEST OPEN COMMUNITY MEAL PROGRAMS IN SEATTLE SERVING ALMOST 6% OF THE FREE MEALS IN THE CITY.
MCC LEASES 47 DORMITORY STYLE, SINGLE-ROOM-OCCUPANCY ROOMS A FEW BLOCKS FROM ITS BELLTOWN HEADQUARTERS CALLED "THE KASOTA". THIS PROGRAM PROVIDES MCC WORKERS WHO ARE HOMELESS ACCESS TO SCARCE AFFORDABLE HOUSING IN DOWNTOWN SEATTLE. ALLOW THEM TO CONCENTRATE ON ACHIEVING EMPLOYMENT GOALS, AND GIVE THEM TIME TO SEARCH FOR OTHER AFFORDABLE HOUSING.
