Organizations Filed Purposes:
Support the Tribal Canoe Journey, Publicize and promote Tribal sovereignty and treaty rights, build bridges between cultures via educational programs, participate in transforming the Medicaid system. Responding to COVID we pivoted to transport food and supply traditional medicines to urban Natives.
Traditional Medicines: Purchased and distributed traditional medicines to expectant urban Native mothers, purchased and distributed fans and air filters to shield urban Native people from wildfire smoke, contracted for production of cloth face masks by Native artisans on reservations and distributed them to urban Natives, organized, produced and broadcast daily lovingkindness meditation sessions aimed at urban Natives and frontline healthcare workers.
Emergency Rent Assistance: Made small grants to pay rent for urban Native people who were affected by the COVID crisis.
Emergency Feeding Supplies: Distributed donated food supplies from a suburban warehouse to agencies serving urban Native people and African refugees in Seattle. Purchased additional food as needed to support cultural food requirements.
