NEW BEGINNINGS EMPOWERS SURVIVORS AND MOBILIZES COMMUNITY AWARENESS AND ACTION TO END DOMESTIC VIOLENCE.
NEW BEGINNINGS PROMOTES THE SAFETY, KNOWLEDGE, AND LIBERATION OF DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SURVIVORS, AND EDUCATES THE COMMUNITY TO PREVENT AND STOP DOMESTIC VIOLENCE.
COMMUNITY ADVOCACY PROGRAM: IN 2019, CRISIS INTERVENTION, SAFETY PLANNING, INFORMATION AND REFERRALS WERE PROVIDED TO COMMUNITY MEMBERS THROUGH 5,986 CALLS TO NEW BEGINNINGS' 24-HOUR HELPLINE. 442 ADULTS, AND 69 CHILDREN PLANNED FOR THEIR SAFETY, AND MADE PROGRESS IN HEALING AND REBUILDING THEIR LIVES THROUGH INDIVIDUAL ADVOCACY, COUNSELING AND SUPPORT GROUPS. 187 DOMESTIC VIOLENCE SURVIVORS RECEIVED INFORMATION, REFERRALS AND SUPPORT WITH PROTECTION ORDERS, DIVORCE, CHILD CUSTODY, IMMIGRATION AND OTHER CASES WITH THE ASSISTANCE OF OUR LEGAL ADVOCATES. 64 SURVIVORS RECEIVED MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELING THROUGH NEW BEGINNINGS' THERAPIST, AND 141 SURVIVORS RECEIVED FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE TO HELP THEM REMAIN HOUSED, AND OVERCOME OTHER OBSTACLES TO SAFETY AND INDEPENDENCE.
HOME SAFE PROGRAM: IN 2019, 50 ADULTS AND 78 CHILDREN FLEEING ABUSE FOUND A SAFE HAVEN, RECEIVING INTENSIVE WRAP-AROUND SERVICES AND FLEXIBLE FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE IN OUR BRIDGE HOUSING. WITH THE SUPPORT OF OUR HOUSING ADVOCATES, OVER 95% OF THESE SURVIVORS EXITED TO STABLE HOMES, RECEIVING RENTAL ASSISTANCE AND MOBILE ADVOCACY SERVICES FOR UP TO A YEAR.
SOCIAL CHANGE PROGRAM: IN 2019, 1,680 COMMUNITY MEMBERS INCREASED THEIR KNOWLEDGE ABOUT DOMESTIC VIOLENCE AND WHERE TO TURN FOR HELP THROUGH OUR COMMUNITY EDUCATION AND OUTREACH EFFORTS. 473 YOUTH LEARNED ABOUT HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS AND THE WARNING SIGNS OF ABUSE THROUGH OUR PREVENTION EDUCATION EFFORTS. 142 COMMUNITY VOLUNTEERS PROVIDED 2,524 HOURS OF SERVICE THROUGH INVOLVEMENT IN NEW BEGINNINGS' EDUCATION AND OUTREACH PROGRAMS, SURVIVOR SUPPORT SERVICES, EVENTS, AND ORGANIZATIONAL GOVERNANCE.
