Operated two clinics to provide Reproductive Health to be the leader in providing reproductive health services, education and advocacy for the people of Hawaii. The two clinics, one in Honolulu and one in Maui continue to operate. As of 7/31/15, all operations ceased under the organization's EIN and continued as part of Planned Parenthood of the Great Northwest and the Hawaiian Islands.
Clinical services program operated three health centers in Hawaii - located in Honolulu (Oahu), Kahului (Maui), Kailua-Kona (Big Island of Hawaii), (Kailua-Kona was closed by the end of the fiscal year). PPHI served more than 6,072 individual patients annually and provided more than 10,610 clinical visits. Board-certified physicians and advance practice nurse practitioners provided reproductive health care for males and females, including pelvic examinations, pap smears, screening and treatment for abnormal cervical cells, clinical breast exams, HPV vaccinations, pregnancy tests, birth control services and supplies, emergency contraception, screening and treatment for sexually-transmitted infections, abortion services and health education. A large percentage of patients were young women and teens seeking confidential, affordable reproductive health care and family planning services. The organization accepts most health insurances and offers family planning services on a sliding fee scale based on patient family income educational services program. The education and training department provides education and training that allows individuals to make informed sexual health decisions. In FY2015, PPHI educators presented 986 separate educational sessions, conducted 13 workshops and trainings, and made 24,586 direct contacts reaching more than 8,121 individual youth and adults including but not limited to students, parents, teachers, youth-serving professionals and others. Sessions were presented at 57 public and private schools, colleges and universities on Oahu, Maui, Lanai, Kauai and Hawaii Islands. PPHI staff worked with 32 different community-based and faith-based agencies statewide. In addition to education and training sessions, PPHI staff conducted 31 outreach activities including participating in community health fairs, events and media outreach. The PPHI education team is also contracted on both of the Office of Adolescent Health contracts in the state of Hawaii. In collaboration with Hawaii Youth Services Network Tier 1 Award, staff facilitate and provide training and technical assistance on evidence based programs statewide. In collaboration with University of Hawaii's Centers on Disability Services Tier 2 Award, PPHI staff collaborated to develop a culturally responsive teen pregnancy and HIV/STI prevention curriculum called "Pono Choices", created intensive in-person and e-learning trainings for teachers and provide fidelity monitoring and technical assistance to teachers that implement the curriculum statewide.
