WE LEVERAGE RESOURCES AND PARTNERSHIPS TO OFFER HOME REPAIR AND MODIFICATION SERVICES TO LOW-INCOME HOME WONERS AND NONPROFIT FACILITIES, AND ENGAGE IN OTHER PROJECTS TO REVITALIZE COMMUNITY SPACES AND NEIGHBORHOODS. OUR COORDINATED APPROACH BUILDS AND SUSTAINS SAFE, HEALTHY AND THRIVING CMMUNITIES. MORE THAN HOUSING REPAIR, WE IMPROVE HEALTH OUTCOMES, STABILIZE HOUSING AND HOMEOWNERSHIP, AND REDUCE THE NEED FOR NEW AFFORDABLE HOUSING. NATIONAL REBUILDING DAY AND MONTH IS REBUILDING TOGETHER SEATTLE'S FLAGSHIP PROGRAM, LOCALLY PARTICIPATED IN FIRST IN 1990. THE PROGRAM TAKES PLACE THROUGHOUT THE MONTH OF APRIL AND CULMINATES ON THE LAST SATURDAY IN APRIL WITH VOLUNTEER GROUPS RESTORING HOMES AND NONPROFIT FACILITIES THROUGH THE SUPPORT OF COMMUNITY SPONSORS AND PARTNERS. NATIONALLY, APPROXIMATELY 1,600 HOMES ARE RESTORED BY ROUGHLY 130 AFFILIATES ACROSS THE COUNTRY THROUGH THE PROGRAM EVENT.
THE TEAM BUILD PROGRAM CONSISTS OF SPONSORED REBUILDING DAY EVENTS THAT TAKE PLACE THROUGHOUT THE YEAR, OUTSIDE OF THE NATIONAL REBUILDING DAY AND MONTH PROGRAM. AS WITH NATIONAL REBUILDING MONTH, FUNDING PARTNERS SUPPORTING THE PROGRAM AND THE WORK AT A HOME OR NONPROFIT FACILITY ON OUR WAITING LIST, ARE ALSO INVITED TO VOLUNTEER ON THE PROJECT. THIS VOLUNTEER WORK INCLUDES REPAIRS, IMPROVEMENTS AND MODIFICATIONS TO THE HOMES OF LOW-INCOME HOUSEHOLDS IN ORDER TO STABILIZE HOUSING WHILE IMPROVING THE HEALTH OUTCOMES OF OCCUPANTS.
SAFE AT HOME IS REBUILDING TOGETHER SEATTLE'S YEAR-ROUND PROGRAM, ENGAGING INDIVIDUAL VOLUNTEERS OR SMALL GROUPS IN CONDUCTING CRITICAL HOME REPAIR PROJECTS, SMALL HANDYMAN-TYPE JOBS, AND/OR ROUTINE MAINTENANCE AT HOMES THAT HAVE SCOPES TOO CHALLENGING OR TOO SMALL TO EFFECTIVELY UTILIZE A LARGE TEAM. THESE REPAIRS RANGE FROM ACCESSIBILITY AND SAFETY IMPROVEMENTS SUCH AS GRAB BARS, RAMPS, AND FLOORING, TO SYSTEMS REPAIRS SUCH AS MINOR ELECTRICAL AND PLUMBING, AND A VARIETY OF OTHER REPAIR WORK.
