Organizations Filed Purposes: Seattle Works' mission is to connect volunteers, develop leaders, and build community. Seattle Works connects volunteer and nonprofit partners in a variety of volunteer opportunities, including board leadership, prepares people to join nonprofit boards and public commissions, develops leadership skills with people involved with nonprofits, creates spaces for people to build equitable communities in the Seattle region, and is a trusted partner to great causes.

Full Impact: BIPOC Link-up and White Caucus are community-building spaces. BIPOC Link-up is a space for people who identify as Black, Indigenous, or People of Color can connect, build community, share resources, discuss racial equity, promote healing, and make an impact. White Caucus is a space for people who identify as white to learn, build community, and take action to dismantle racism. Both of these spaces build community among participants and provide leadership development opportunities for making an impact outside of the meetings. The virtual community building space was especially important during the COVID-19 pandemic this year to counter isolation and build community among people. Seattle Works hosted 24 BIPOC Link-ups and 14 White Caucuses in 2020.

The Bridge: Board Training is a board training to demystify board service, learn new skills, and build a sense of community responsibility. In 2020, The Bridge pivoted to be a virtual training to ensure we could continue our leadership development trainings during the COVID-19 pandemic. Seattle Works hosted 8 trainings, resulting in 100 Bridge graduates who are prepared to serve on nonprofit boards.

Agents of Change is a new cohort-based program where participants learn how to incorporate an anti-racist lens to the work they do in the nonprofit sector as volunteers, board members, and nonprofit professionals. Participants learn about topics ranging from implicit bias, the nonprofit industrial complex, and volunteer engagement with an anti-racist lens. Participants built community among each other in the cohort and developed their leadership skills to become agents of change in the nonprofit sector. The inaugural cohort in the fall of 2020 include 29 individuals from different areas of the nonprofit sector. Participants reported that they learned specific ways to take action with the nonprofits they are involved in as a result of participating in Agents of Change.
