Organizations Filed Purposes:
WORKS TO FOSTER AND ADVOCATE FOR A ROBUST AND EQUITABLE THEATRE COMMUNITY. WE AT TPS WANT TO LIVE IN A WORLD WHERE REPRESENTATION IS NOT AN AFTERTHOUGHT, ARTISTS CAN LIVE SUSTAINABLY, AND WHERE THEATRE IS SEEN AS AN INTEGRAL PIECE OF EDUCATION PRACTICES AND COMMUNITY EXPERIENCE.
THE SPACE FOR ARTS PROGRAM PROVIDES AFFORDABLE REHEARSAL AND PERFORMANCE SPACE TO BE USED BY ANY ARTISTS OR ARTS ORGANIZATION, FOR ANY ARTS RELATED PURPOSE. THE PROGRAM IS POSSIBLE IN PARTNERSHIP WITH SEATTLE CENTER, WITH PROFITS SPLIT 50% BETWEEN THE TWO ENTITES. EXPENSES INCLUDE MAINTENANCE, PERSONNEL, AND WEBSITE UPKEEP. IN 2019, TPS HOSTED 18,882 INDIVIDUALS AND SUPPORTED 13,345 HOURS WORTH OF ARTS RELATED ACTIVITIES.
RACE AND SOCIAL JUSTICE: TPS IS COMMITTED TO PROVIDING ONGOING RACIAL EQUITY RESOURCES AND TRAINING TO THE COMMUNITY. IN 2019 TPS BEGAN SUPPORTING THE SEATTLE CENTER RACIAL EQUITY COHORT AS A FISCAL MANAGER. TPS HELPS TO PROVIDE SPACE AND SUPPORT TO THE COHORTS DIRECTOR IN PARTNERSHIP WITH A GRANT FROM THE GATES FOUNDATION AND FISCAL SPONSORSHIP THROUGH THE SEATTLE CENTER FOUNDATION. THE GRANT COVERS ALL EXPENSES AND SALARIES FOR THIS PROGRAM AND WAS APPROVED FOR CONTINUATION IN 2020. IN ADDITION, TPS LAUNCHED NEW WORKSHOPS DEDICATED TO RACIAL EQUITY IN THEATRE, AND IS DEVELOPING A PUGET SOUND THEATRE STANDARDS TO ADDRESS RACIAL DISCRIMINATION AND SEXUAL HARASSMENT IN THE THEATRE COMMUNITY.
MEMBERSHIP: IN 2019 TPS SUPPORT 1370 MEMBERS. INDIVIDUAL AND ORGANIZATIONAL MEMBERS WERE ABLE TO USE THE AUTOMATED CASTING BOARD, SET UP AN ONLINE PROFILE, GET MEMBERS ONLINE EVENT DISCOUNTS, AND PARTICIPATE IN THE UNIFIED GENERAL AUDITIONS. THE UNIFIED GENERAL AUDITIONS, WHICH OCCURRED IN LATE FEBRUARY, ONCE AGAIN HOSTED OVER 400 ACTORS AND CASTING PROFESSIONALS.
