Organizations Filed Purposes:
The Washington Council American Institute of Architects (AIA-WA) serves as the collective voice for and a resource on state government policies that impact the practice of architecture for all architects and the profession through AIA components in Washington State. The primary goal is to serve the common interests of over 3000 Washington architects.
Member advocacy events including Capitol Connections where 70 members met with 490 legislators during the legislative session to discuss issues affecting the practice of architecture, Advocacy In Action where 51 members met to learn about advocacy and to discuss the legislative agenda for the organization for the following year. Members submitted for the annual Civic Design Awards where out of 41 projects, 13 received awards celebrating excellence in design of public projects located in Washington State. The organization advocated on behalf of members in 10 separate instances with regards to the Washington State Qualifications Based Selection process where Requests for Proposal/Qualifications included a request for fees and pricing. The organization advocated on behalf of members through various partner organizations and through in person testimony during the legislative session.
