Washington Nonprofits makes sure nonprofits have what they need to succeed through learning, advocacy and collaboration. We are the state association for all nonprofits in Washington state.
Learning Program: Our learning program presented 145 learning events in 2019, in locations across the State of Washington and online. We reached over 8000 people with quality information about nonprofit management and governance. Our newest toolkit helps nonprofits improve workplace safety, and our workshops expanded to incorporate more advanced topics like strategic financial management, board development, and executive leadership.
Advocacy: In 2019, Washington Nonprofits advocated for policies that create a positive climate for nonprofits to do their vital work. We advocated for changes to labor laws, laid the groundwork for updating the state statutes that govern nonprofits, and defeated bills that would have been damaging to nonprofits. We partnered with nonprofits to encourage Washington residents to participate in the 2020 US Census.
Engagement: We connected our members for networking, learning, and collaboration. In 2019, we brought our members together locally and for statewide gatherings including the 25th Anniversary Washington State Nonprofit Conference. We supported regional networks and provided information and referrals on a regular basis. We shared timely information on trends in the sector and encouraged peer learning, mentoring, and support. Membership grew by 15% in 2019.
