WILDLAND ADVOCACY - IN 2019, WA WILD LED STATEWIDE COALITION EFFORTS TO PERMANENTLY PROTECT WILD LANDS AND WATERS IN THE NORTH CASCADES AND OLYMPIC PENINSULA. AS A MEMBER OF THE WILD OLYMPICS CAMPAIGN, WA WILD WORKED TO INCREASE LOCAL SUPPORT FOR NEW WILDERNESS AND WILD AND SCENIC RIVER PROTECTIONS ON OLYMPIC NATIONAL FOREST AND OLYMPIC NATIONAL PARK TO MORE THAN 800 LOCAL BUSINESSES, ELECTED OFFICIALS AND CONSERVATION, RECREATION AND HUNTING AND FISHING ORGANIZATIONS. AS A MEMBER OF THE METHOW HEADWATERS COALITION, WA WILD MOBILIZED OUR SUPPORTERS IN THE REGION TO SPEAK UP IN FAVOR OF A PERMANENT MORATORIUM ON MINING IN THE METHOW VALLEY.

WILDLAND DEFENSE - IN 2019, WA WILD LED STATEWIDE EFFORTS TO OPPOSE THREATS TO WILD LANDS AND WATERS FROM MINING, UNSUSTAINABLE LOGGING AND OTHER DEVELOPMENT. DURING THE YEAR, WA WILD COORDINATED 13 SIGN ON LETTERS WITH MORE THAN 564 SIGNATORIES OPPOSING THE CONSTRUCTION OF NEW ROADS AND MINING THREATS IN NATIONAL FOREST ROADLESS AREAS, OPPOSING MINING AND LOGGING IN THE SKAGIT HEADWATERS, SUPPORTING FUNDING FOR ROAD AND TRAIL IMPROVEMENTS ON THE MT BAKER SNOQUALMIE, OLYMPIC AND WENATCHEE-OKANAGAN NATIONAL FORESTS.

OUTREACH & EDUCATION - IN 2019, WA WILD SIGNIFICANTLY INCREASED OUR EFFORTS TO EDUCATE AND MOBILIZE WASHINGTON RESIDENTS AROUND WILD LANDS AND WATERS ISSUES. WE HELD 53 COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT AND ACTIVISM EVENTS ACROSS WASHINGTON STATE AS PART OF OUR BREWSHED(R) ALLIANCE AND OTHER EFFORTS. WE ACTIVATED 2,253 SUPPORTERS, OPPOSING OFFSHORE OIL DRILLING IN WASHINGTON STATE, PUSHING BACK ON PROPOSED NATIONAL PARK FEE INCREASES, PROTECTING THE ENDANGERED SPECIES ACT, STANDING UP FOR OUR ROADLESS AREAS, AND SUPPORTING PERMANENT FUNDING FOR THE LAND AND WATER CONSERVATION FUND.
