The Mission of the Washington State Veterinary Medical Association is to advance the cause of veterinary medicine to better the lives of those touched by it. This includes providing for the professional needs of veterinarians so they can provide high-quality medicine of pets and food animals, protect public health and protect the food supply. Through our work of providing advocacy, education, information and resources, member veterinarians and veterinary students are able to focus on their deep commitment to the care and well-being of animals, their owners, and the general public.

Pacific Northwest Veterinary Conference: State meeting for the purposes of continuing education for veterinarians and their staff plus a trade show. 1,220 veterinarians, technicians, veterinary staff, speakers, vendors and guests attended the Greater Tacoma Convention Center. There were 98 vendor booths in the trade show. 18 hours of continuing education credit was possible out of 150+ hours presented.
One-Day Education Programs and Webinars: Three individual programs were offered in 2018-19. Four speakers presented on head pain in animals on Jan. 20, 2019. There were 101 attendees and 4 hours of CE. Four speakers presented on animal internal medicine. There were 113 attendees and 4 hours of CE. The VetMed Matters Conference was presented on the topic of opioids in veterinary medicine on March 16, 2019. .There were 4 speakers, 80 attendees and 6 hours of CE. 12 monthly webinars were presented live on a variety of veterinary topics with attendance varying between 40 and 100 attendees at each one. The webinars were also made available on demand.
Power of Ten Leadership Academy: Ten recent graduates enter a one year program to study leadership, communication, and organized veterinary medicine.
