Organizations Filed Purposes: THE SPOKANE PARKS FOUNDATION CULTIVATES THE HEALTH, GROWTH, AND CONTINUED ENJOYMENT OF OUR COMMUNITIES BY INSPIRING GIVING AND PASSION FOR OUR PARKS.

IMPROVES PARKS IN THE GREATER SPOKANE AREA THROUGH DONATIONS THAT FUND GRANTS FOR PARK ACTIVITIES AND COMMUNITY PROJECTS.

PROGRAM SERVICE ACCOMPLISHMENTS CONSIST OF EXPENDITURES DESIGNED TO CREATE EQUITY, ACCESSIBILITY, PARK IMPROVEMENTS AND ENHANCEMENTS, AND COMMUNITY BUILDING. THE BENEFICIARIES OF OUR EFFORTS ARE THE CITIZENS OF SPOKANE AND SPOKANE COUNTY, AS WELL AS VISITORS TO OUR REGION.THE OBJECTIVE OF OUR GRANT PROGRAM IS TO FUND COMMUNITY DRIVEN INITIATIVES AND PARK DEPARTMENT PROGRAMS THAT ENHANCE PUBLIC PARKS, SUPPORT EDUCATIONAL AND RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES, AND CREATE EQUITY AND ACCESSIBILITY. FOR THE CITY OF SPOKANE, GRANT FUNDS SUPPORTED: FREE AND REDUCED COST FEES FOR AT-RISK AND LOW INCOME YOUTH TO ATTEND AN OUTDOOR ADVENTURE CAMP FOR A WEEK'S WORTH OF OUTDOOR RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES; THE THERAPEUTIC RECREATIONAL SERVICES BLADES ICE SKATING PROGRAM, WHICH SERVES YOUTH WITH VARYING PHYSICAL DISABILITIES WITH OPPORTUNITIES TO ICE SKATE; AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF A NEW JUNIOR DISC GOLF COURSE TO ALLOW CHILDREN OF ALL ABILITIES ACCESS TO ONE OF OUR REGION'S FASTEST GROWING SPORTS. SIGNIFICANT FUNDING WAS GIVEN TO PROVIDE LOW OR NO COST SWIM LESSONS TO LOW INCOME CHILDREN. ADDITIONALLY, FUNDS WERE GIVEN TO SUPPORT ROCHESTER HEIGHTS PARK REVITALIZATION AND WINTER SPORTS TRAIL GROOMING. THE SPOKANE EASTSIDE REUNION ASSOCIATION BENEFITTED FROM OUR FUNDING TO PROVIDE LOW INCOME, AT-RISK YOUTH WITH THE OPPORTUNITY TO PARTICIPATE IN A BASKETBALL CAMP WHICH INCLUDED ACCESS TO FOOD, COACHING AND HEALTHY LIFESTYLE INFORMATION. IN SPOKANE COUNTY, FUNDS WERE PROVIDED TO INSTALL INTERPRETIVE AND SMOKE/VAPE FREE SIGNAGE AT CAMP CARO IN THE DISHMAN HILLS NATURAL AREA, A LIFE JACKET LOANER STATION AT LIBERTY LAKE, AND ADA IMPROVEMENTS AT HOLMBERG PARK. IN ADDITION, FUNDS WERE PROVIDED FOR FREE SWIM OPPORTUNITIES AND LOW TO NO COST SWIM LESSONS TO LOW INCOME CHILDREN. SPOKFEST BENEFITTED WITH FUNDING FOR BOTH THEIR SUMMER PARKWAYS EVENT AND KIDICAL MASS, BOTH OF WHICH ENCOURAGE BICYCLING AS AN ALTERNATIVE FORM OF TRANSPORTATION AND EXCELLENT SOURCE OF RECREATIONAL FUN. THE CITY OF AIRWAY HEIGHTS COMPLETED PHASE ONE OF THEIR RECREATIONAL COMPLEX AND THE FOUNDATION FUNDED ADA PATHWAYS TO CONNECT THE CENTER TO PLAY FIELDS. GRANTS WERE ALSO PROVIDED TO THE CITY OF CHENEY AND CITY OF SPOKANE VALLEY TO PROVIDE ACCESS TO AQUATICS FACILITIES AND LOW OR NO COST SWIM LESSONS TO LOW INCOME AND DISADVANTAGED YOUTH IN THEIR COMMUNITIES.
