We provide full-spectrum, hands-on, scalable resources including training, venues, business advice, and other support, to artists and culture creators, by building community, generating prosperity, and enriching the quality of life, of the places where they live and work. Our vision is an Inland Northwest rich in arts, culture, and economic prosperity.
From Here - In June of 2019, Terrain moved our retail storefront from a 600 sq. ft. retail space featuring 25 artists to Spokane?s urban shopping mall Riverpark Square to a 4,200 sq. ft. space featuring 72 artists. This new location offers 1.5 million of foot traffic a year, increasing our impact and sales for local artists featured in the store. From June - Dec. 2019, the store sold 10,736 items totaling $194,133.09 in sales. The store sales nearly tripled over 2018 sales from $63,854.82 to $194,133.09 in 2019. This move has increased our ability to support local artists in our community and expose their work to a broader audience.
Terrain - an annual, one-night-only juried multimedia art and music event celebrating young and emerging artists in the Spokane area. In 2019, the event featured 453 pieces of the work by 274 artists and attracted approximately 13,000 attendees, with nearly $24,814.30 going to artists for sales of original artwork, prints, and music merchandise. The event is a celebration of the new energy and fresh ideas from all over the artistic spectrum. From painting to poetry to interactive art and film, the event showcases a little of everything that is happening to make the Inland Empire a more vibrant, cultural, and beautiful place.
Terrain Gallery - 1500 sq. ft space located in the Washington Cracker Building, featured monthly shows by a wide range of local and traveling artists. The gallery featured the work of 96 artists throughout 2019. These shows featured students, emerging artists, established artists. Of the 96 artists featured, 42 of the artists showcased identified as LGBTQ+, womxn, and people of color. During 2019, 4,210 people attended our gallery shows. We also hosted four printmaking workshops in the Terrain Gallery taught by local and regional printmakers.
