Support, advocacy, training & information to empower families & individuals with disabilities headquartered in Tacoma, WA

Parent Training and Information (PTI) Center (funded through a grant from the Department of Education since 1981) works to help parents, youth, and professionals understand and advocate for individuals with disabilities in the public education system in Washington State. The PTI's current 5 year grant cycle began in 2014. During this fiscal year we increased the family, professional and youth contacts from 12,478 to 14,502. We provided 27 trainings to mostly migrant family's transitioning from Part C to Part B. We provided Transition and Resource Fairs to a total of 296 participants.

The STOMP program is funded by the Department of Army, Airforce, and Navy to provide 1 & 2 day workshops on Parents Rights and Responsibilities in Achieving Special Education Services to military families and professional at military installations in the U.S. and abroad and 1-hour webinars to be completed by 2020. In this fiscal year a total of 39 trainings were done - 23 were within the continental United States and 12 were done in Europe and Asia.

The Branch - Military Parent Technical Assistance Center (MPTAC) This program is funded by the Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) through the Department of Education and the four year grant cycle started in 2014. The Branch will build the capacity of Parent Centers to provide effective services to miliitary parents of children with disabilities and youth with disabilities in military families. The Branch has three main goals for their technical assistance. Parent centers will have access to high quality, relevant, useful and accuate information on topics that increase their effectiveness when working with military families. Parent centers in the 10 states with the highest military representation will have usstained, effective relationships with the personnel on the military installations within their state. Parent centers who request intensive technical assistance will increase their capacity to support military families and have sustained, effective relationships with the personnel on the military installations in their area.
