Organizations Filed Purposes:
Successfully supported the underrepresented East African Community with TIRP Grant. Supported included student well- being and success by improving school climate and advocating for alternative discipline in the school system.
Empowring immigrant and refugee families through the strenght of their own cultures.
YOUTH DIVERSION Supported and worked with elders in the East African community to develop a culturally responsive mediation approach to address issues regarding the disproportionate rates of incarceration of youth of color and to interrrupt the school to prison pipelines. This is a volunteer program.
AT-PROMISE YOUTH Focused on supporting Somali Young Youth Adults (YYA) aged 18-24 that are involved in the criminal legal system. Support Somali youths in navigating systems and addressing trauma to remove barriers that intersect with their ability to fully live their lives by utilizing the following best and promising practices. This program did not receive any funding in 2019.
CULTURAL RESTORATION OF THE HEARTS AND MINDS (CHRM)@ FOSTER HIGH SCHOOL and STEERING TOGETHER AT SHOWELTER MIDDLE SCHOOL Address issues around cultural dimensions to solve conflicts that arise due cultural values, designations, and approach.
