LOCAL CAPACITY BUILDING. IAF NW continued its core work of building the capacity of local leaders organizers to improve the welfare of their local communities. Those efforts include conducting advanced 6-Day Leadership Institutes for community leaders in the US, Canada, New Zealand Australia organizing 3 multi-day seminars/training sessions for the professional organizers providing weekly phone consultation on-site mentoring support to organizers key leaders from the 12 affiliated organizations. Highlights include Helping local affiliates find the most useful ways to marshal their volunteer resources in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Those responses include partnering with public health authorities to do daily check-ins with infected people recovering at home weekly calls to isolated at-risk populations mobilizing support for stranded international students with no support organizing neighborhood food distribution networks. REGIONAL STRATEGIC INITIATIVES. IAF NW expanded its training infrastructure in support of health equity organizing initiatives across the region. Those supports now include monthly training sessions for 2 family medicine residency programs classes for undergraduate students in health related fields at 5 universities and weekly consultation and mentoring for health equity organizers working in community clinics.
