ENHANCED OUR COLLABORATIVE RELATIONSHIPS, OUR REPUTATION FOR EXCELLENCE WITH RECYCLING BUYERS, AND STRONG PUBLIC SUPPORT. VOLUMES AND VISITOR COUNTS INCREASED 10% OVER PRIOR YEAR. SERVED 13,000 FULL- AND PART-TIME RESIDENTS OF ALL AGES, AND 10S OF THOUSANDS OF VISITORS. ADAPTED THIS ESSENTIAL SERVICE TO COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS WITH INCREASED TRAFFIC CONTROL AND SCHEDULING CHANGES TO FACILITATE SOCIAL DISTANCING. INITIATED PRACTICE OF CHARGING FOR RECYCLING TO IMPROVE PROGRAM SUSTAINABILITY. ESTABLISHED RECYCLING MEMBERSHIP PROGRAM TO PROMOTE PRE-PAY OPTION AND BUILD MORE ENGAGEMENT WITH CONSTINUENTS. DESIGNED AND BEGAN CONSTRUCTION OF A ROOF EXTENSION TO THE DROP-OFF AREA TO INCREASE SAFETY, FUNDED BY A RESTRICTED GIFT.
WASTE PREVENTION: CONDUCTED 3 REPAIR CAFES AT WHICH COMMUNITY VOLUNTEERS ATTEMPTED TO REPAIR ITEMS CARRIED IN. 5 EVENTS WERE CANCELLED DUE TO THE PANDEMIC. 50 COMMUNITY MEMBERS SERVED, 70 ITEMS FIXED, WITH AN 81% SUCCESS RATE FEATURING MATERIALS REUSE PROGRAM, TAKE IT OR LEAVE IT, DELIVERED REUSE OPPORTUNITY FOR 6,000 RESIDENTS. BUILDING MATERIALS AND HOUSEHOLD ITEMS. INCREASED INVENTORY OF TOOLS VIA OUR TOOL LIBRARY TO OVER 225 TOOLS AVAILABLE FOR ALL RESIDENTS TO SHARE. ALL PROGRAMS ADAPTED TO COVID-19 RESTRICTIONS INCLUDING SANITIZING PRACTICES AND SOCIAL DISTANCING.
EDUCATION & OUTREACH: IN-PERSON CONTACT WITH EVERY PERSON ENTERING RECYCLING CAMPUS TO PROVIDE INFORMATION AND ANSWER QUESTIONS ABOUT ALL PROGRAMS. IN-PERSON EDUCATION AND OUTREACH CONVERTED TO ZOOM OR SMALL-GROUP LEARNING PODS AT SCHOOLS. SIGNIFICANTLY INCREASED E-NEWS AND SOCIAL MEDIA PUBLICATION AND ENGAGEMENT AROUND ISSUES, SOLUTIONS, AND INSPIRATION. ADDITIONAL ECO-LEADER COMMUNITY AMBASSADORS TRAINED VIA ZOOM MEETINGS TO AID NEIGHBORS IN RECYCLING CORRECTLY AND PREVENTION OF WASTE. PARTICIPATION IN DEVELOPMENT OF COMMUNITY-WIDE CLIMATE ACTION PLAN TO REPRESENT THE ROLE OF WASTE & CONSUMPTION IN CLIMATE CHANGE. PARTICIPATION IN COUNTY SOLID WASTE ADVISORY COMMITTEE.
