Organizations Filed Purposes: TO ENABLE ALL YOUNG PEOPLE, ESPECIALLY THOSE WHO NEED US MOST, TO REALIZE THEIR FULL POTENTIAL AS PRODUCTIVE, CARING AND RESPONSIBLE CITIZENS.

GENERAL CLUB PROGRAMMING: SINCE 2000, BOYS & GIRLS CLUBS OF SOUTHWEST WASHINGTON HAS PROVIDED A SAFE, POSITIVE ENVIRONMENT FOR THE YOUTH WHO NEED US MOST. WE ARE ONE OF THE ONLY AGENCIES IN CLARK COUNTY TO OFFER DAILY, AFFORDABLE, AFTER-SCHOOL AND SUMMER PROGRAMS, WITH A SPECIFIC FOCUS ON UNDER-SERVED NEIGHBORHOODS. IN 2019, WE SERVED OVER 3,400 YOUTH FROM KINDERGARTEN THROUGH 12TH GRADES AT SIX CLUB SITES, OFFERING HIGH-QUALITY, STRUCTURED ENRICHMENT PROGRAMS IN THREE CORE AREAS: ACADEMIC SUCCESS, CHARACTER AND LEADERSHIP, AND HEALTHY LIFESTYLES. WE ALSO PROVIDED MENTORING AND TUTORING, FAMILY OUTREACH ACTIVITIES, AND NUTRITIOUS MEALS AND SNACKS DAILY. FOR AS LITTLE AS $60 PER YEAR, CLUB MEMBERS WERE ABLE TO ACCESS OUR PROGRAMS AND SERVICES FIVE DAYS A WEEK, ALL YEAR LONG. NO CHILD IS TURNED AWAY FOR INABILITY TO PAY.

ACADEMIC INNOVATION & MENTORING (AIM): OUR TARGETED TUTORING AND MENTORING PROGRAM AT THE WASHINGTON ELEMENTARY AND FRUIT VALLEY SITES CONSISTS OF STEM AND LITERACY ACADEMIC ENRICHMENT, DAILY HOMEWORK ASSISTANCE, AND ONE-ON-ONE OR SMALL GROUP TUTORING IN SPECIFIC CONTENT AREAS. THIS YEAR WAS THE MOST SUCCESSFUL YET IN TERMS OF INFUSING STEM THROUGHOUT THE EDUCATIONAL PROGRAM. 130 MEMBERS TOOK PART IN THIS TARGETED TUTORING AND MENTORING PROGRAM. AT OUR WASHINGTON SITE, 85 PERCENT OF PARTICIPANTS SHOWED IMPROVEMENT IN READING LEVELS AND 82 PERCENT SHOWED IMPROVEMENT IN MATH. AT OUR FRUIT VALLEY SITE, 84 PERCENT OF PARTICIPANTS SHOWED IMPROVEMENT IN READING LEVELS AND 95 PERCENT SHOWED IMPROVEMENT IN MATH.

COLLEGE PREP: OUR COLLEGE PREP PROGRAM SERVED 65 TEENS THIS YEAR THROUGH COLLEGE AND CAREER EXPOSURE ACTIVITIES, SKILL BUILDING WORKSHOPS, CAMPUS VISITS, AND TUTORING SUPPORT. SIXTY-SEVEN (67) PERCENT OF OUR PARTICIPANTS ARE FROM UNDERREPRESENTED GROUPS, 68 PERCENT ARE LOW INCOME, AND 70 PERCENT ARE FIRST GENERATION COLLEGE-GOING YOUTH. THIS YEAR, ALL 11 OF OUR COLLEGE PREP SENIORS GRADUATED ON TIME. OF THESE 11, SEVEN, WILL BE ATTENDING CLARK COLLEGE, TWO A BACHELOR'S DEGREE GRANTING INSTITUTION AND ONE HAS JOINED THE WORKFORCE.
