Police Activities League after school and summer camps offer youth at local elementary schools the opportunity to stay active over the summer. We offer different themed camps ranging from sports to the art to sciences. Youth participate at camp for three hours. They are served a healthy snack and lunch. 250 youth served. Our miscellaneous programs capitalize on opportunities to support programs outside of our core programs, like the Explorer Program which is sponsored by Clark County Sheriff's Office for students ages 151/2 to 21 an opportunity to observe the criminal justice system. Explorers provide non-enforcement assistance to the Sheriff's Office and serve their community through a wide variety of functions. 25 youth served

We provide athletic programs to help kids stay active and promote healty lifestyles. Athletics allows kids to learn sportsmanship, teamwork, and discipline. Our hope is kids will learn valuable lessons and life experience on the practice field that they can use in the classroom. We have a core group of 5-7 officers who support this programming, serving approximately 3-5 hours each. 423 youth served.

Our literacy Events take a group of law enforcement officers in patrol cars, the canine unit and specialty vehicles to visit local schools. During their visit, officers spend time reading with students and promoting the importance of education and staying in school. Students are provided the opportunity to explore police vehicles and access to free books. Every literacy event brings a minimum of six officers and often we have up to ten who show up to spend time with the youth. Youth leaving this event often describe the visit as the best day of their life. 2,300 youth served.
