Kids clubs provide safe, supportive after school care for at-risk children ages pre K-12th grade in after school programs. Activities occur in a safe, structured environment where children develop friendships, personal resilience, self-respect, intellectual curiosity, conflict resolution skills, healthy eating habits, reading, math skills, and a life-long love of learning. Participants also develop the skills needed to remain drug free and gang free. After school clubs meet weekly in a small group environment, usually in an afterschool setting or in partnership with other agencies. Clubs revolve around Camp Fire's educational, out-come based curriculum. Boys and girls learn how to play and work together, while appreciating their similarities and differences in a constructive and positive manner. Clubs allow youth to make new friends, build confidence and self-esteem, as well as earn awards and emblems, while particpating in outdoor activities and community service.
Camp Zanika is focused on campers. For over 80 years Camp Zanika has provided children, grades 1-12, an opportunity to live beneath the trees, learn under the stars and experience the wonder of the great outdoors. Camp Zanika's outdoor spaces are ideal settings for programs based on Camp Fire philosophy: An emphasis on the small group, individual attention, acceptance of differences and a loosely structured child-centered approach. Programs focus on appreciation of the out-of-doors, democratic group living , non-competitive sports and games, skill development, concern for others, fun and leadership. Lake Wenatchee is an outdoor classroom where youth develop leadership skills, learn to work with others, develop an appreciation of nature, set goals and solve problems.
