THE PRIMARY PURPOSE OF THE MISSION TO SEAFARERS IS TO PROVIDE MINISTRY TO SEAFARERS VISITING THE PORT OF SEATTLE IN SEATTLE, WASHINGTON.
THE MISSION TO SEAFARERS WELCOMES ALL SEAFARERS WHILE THEY ARE IN SEATTLE. OUR CHAPLAIN AND SHIP VISITORS VISIT SHIPS AND ARRANGE TRANSPORTATION TO THE CENTER OR FOR SHOPPING IN THE CITY. THE CENTER HAS PHONES AND COMPUTERS FOR THE USE OF THE SEAFARERS AND IS WIRED FOR WIFI SO THEY CAN USE THEIR OWN LAPTOPS. WHEN SEAFARERS ARE NOT ALLOWED TO LEAVE THEIR SHIP, WE BRING CELL PHONES AND LOW COST PHONE ARDS TO THEM SO THAT THEY CAN CALL HOME WHILE IN PORT. WE ALSO OFFER TO DO ANY NECESSAR SHOPPING FOR THEM.
THE MISSION STAFF AND VOLUNTEERS PROVIDED TRANSPORTATION SERVICES TO MORE THAN 13,000 CRUISE SHIP EMPLOYEES DURING THE 2018 CRUISE SEASON (MAY - OCTOBER). THE TRANSPORTATION SERVICE IS A SHUTTLE SERVICE BETWEEN THE CRUISE SHIP TERMINAL AND DOWNTOWN SEATTLE WHERE SEAFARERS CAN SHOP AND ENJOY THE CITY.
THE MISSION PROVIDED OVER 3,000 "DITTY BAGS" TO CARGO SHIP EMPLOYEES BETWEEN NOVEMBER 2018 AND FEBRUARY 2019. VOLUNTEERS SEW CLOTH BAGS AND KNIT STOCKING CAPS. THE BAGS ARE FILLED WITH TOILETRIES, A CAP, CARDS, NOTE PAYAER AND OTHER "GOODIES".
