Organizations Filed Purposes:
Manatee County Farm Bureau will work to increase the net income of our farmer members and to promote improvements in our community.
We foster and encourage youth involvement in agriculture at different levels. We held a speech contest where participant researched an agriculture related topic. This event allows students to develop public speaking skills which are important for future success. They also learn the various aspect of agriculture and how it continuously evolves as technology changes. Youth mentoring is important to the future of agriculture, Manatee County takes youth to Tallahassee to educate and experience the process of involvement and to build leadership skills.
Manatee County Farm Bureau hosted a Florida 4R Certification Program event. This program was recently launched and focused on Floridas water quality and offers another opportunity for those in Florida agriculture to set a national example. Attendees discussed fertilizer and nutrient management which impact water quality.
We participated in Farm City Week, a national event to raise awareness of the importance of agriculture and where our food comes from. We held an Ag Venture program where 1,000 third grade students were taught about various animals and tomato planting.
