Mission is to Eliminate Homelessness Among Veterans In Central Florida. Programs include the following: "Search and Rescue", "Transitional Housing" and "Post Traumatic Stress Awareness".
Program "Search and Rescue"a.Search and Rescue is a two pronged outreach program: Street Outreach for unsheltered homeless veterans and their dependents, referral driven outreach for at-risk of losing their home veterans and their families. For unsheltered clients our volunteers go out in to the streets and forests of our community to locate them, provide basic needs (food, outdoor gear, etc) to build rapport and help them address the immediate needs of homelessness, and then connect them with the VA, housing agencies, and benefits application specialists in order to get them housed rapidly and self-sustaining. For at-risk clients we review their financial situation, try to source funding to help them from agencies with grant funding, however if the time to get the grant funding exceeds the time they need to stay in the home, we provide the financial assistance. In 2019, 274 homeless and at-risk of being homeless veterans and their dependents were provided services through this program. b.Additionally, under the Search and Rescue program, 2 large scale outreach events took place, our Annual Thanksgiving Meal Distribution Event and our 10th Annual Warm Full Safe Event. c.During our Thanksgiving event we prepared and delivered 389 meals to homeless, transitionally housed, and low income veterans and their families throughout Brevard. d.During the 10th Annual Warm Full Safe event, there were two primary components; our traditional event where we bring homeless veterans and their families into hotels Christmas Eve and Christmas day, providing warm meals, outdoor gear and clothes to them during their stay, and financial assistance provided to low income and at-risk veterans and their families, all of which were nominated by the community as needing assistance, throughout Brevard. In 2019 18 homeless veterans and dependents were brought into the hotel in Titusville Florida. Additionally, $26,362 was distributed in financial assistance to 50 households throughout Brevard County, impacting 121 total individuals, including 50 children of the veterans.
Program "Transitional Housing"Supportive services housing program that provides transitional housing to formerly homeless veterans and their dependents with the primary purpose being helping the clients achieve self-sufficiency and sustainability. The program currently has a maximum capacity of 17 beds located in 4 properties throughout Brevard County. In 2019, 16 clients were provided assistance through the program.
