THE MUSEUM'S MISSION IS TO CELEBRATE, INVESTIGATE AND EXPLORE THE CIVIC ARTS OF ARCHITECTURE AND URBAN ENVIRONMENTAL DESIGN, INCLUDING FOSTERING AN APPRECIATION FOR THE HISTORY, VISION, AND CULTURAL LANDSCAPE OF CORAL GABLES; PROMOTING BEAUTY AND PLANNING AS WELL AS HISTORIC AND ENVIRONMENTAL PRESERVATION FOR A BROAD AUDIENCE, INCLUDING CHILDREN, FAMILIES, AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS, AS WELL AS LOCAL, REGIONAL, NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL VISITORS. THE MUSEUM OPTIMIZES ITS MISSION BY CULTIVATING EFFECTIVE PARTNERSHIPS, AND PROVIDING PROGRAMMING THAT INCLUDES EXHIBITIONS, COLLECTIONS, EDUCATIONAL OFFERINGS, LECTURES, TOURS, PUBLICATIONS AND SPECIAL EVENTS. THE MUSEUM IS A TRUE PUBLIC/PRIVATE PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN THE CITY OF CORAL GABLES AND THE CORAL GABLES MUSEUM CORP., A PRIVATE, NOT-FOR- PROFIT 501(C)(3) CORPORATION OPERATING AS AN EDUCATIONAL CULTURAL INSTITUTION WITHIN A CITY OWNED FACILITY. THE MUSEUM RAISES ITS OWN OPERATING BUDGET TO FUND THE EXHIBITIONS AND EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS IT PRO
COSTS OF CREATING MUSEUM EXHIBITIONS INCLUDING: SACRED GROUND: THE RISE, FALL AND REVIVAL OF LINCOLN MEMORIAL PARK CEMETERY; CASTLES IN THE SKY: FANTASY ARCHITECTURE IN CONTEMPORARY ART; AMERICA WEAVES; THE ART OF COMPASSION; UNFOLDING 117 YEARS OF HISTORY WITH THE MIAMI HERALD; BO-DROGA; EL VIAJE; ART BASEL; EXHIBITION "FOR NOW-; PETER GERBERT; PURSEONALITY: A STYLISH HANDBAG HISTORY; CREATING THE DREAM; CAPTURE CORAL GABLES. EXPENSES ALSO INCLUDE EXHIBIT RELATED PROGRAMS SUCH AS PANEL DISCUSSIONS, LECTURES, EXHIBIT TOURS, ETC.
CITY TREKKER CAMPS AT THE MUSEUM TOOK PLACE DURING SUMMER, WINTER AND SPRING BREAKS AND OTHER NON-SCHOOL DAYS. THESE DAY CAMPS SERVED 85 CHILDREN (AGES 5-12) THROUGH EXHIBITS, SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS, ART ACTIVITIES AND FIELD TRIPS. IN ADDITION, 65 CHILDREN ATTENDED CAMPS VIRTUALLY.
DIRECT EXPENSES OF GOVERNMENT GRANTS RECEIVED IN SUPPORT OF EXHIBIT PRODUCTION EXPENSES, THE DEVELOPMENT OF INTERPRETIVE MATERIALS, SEASONAL ACTIVITIES AND BUS TRANSPORTATION FOR FIELD TRIPS TO THE MUSEUM.
