YOUNG AT ART MUSEUM HAS BEEN AT THE FOREFRONT OF ARTS EDUCATION IN BROWARD COUNTY SINCE 1989. WE ARE DEDICATED TO CHAMPIONING THE ARTS AS PART OF A COMPLETE EDUCATION AND ARE GUIDED BY OUR MISSION TO ENRICH OUR COMMUNITY THROUGH ARTISTIC, INTERACTIVE EXPERIENCES FOR ALL AGES WHICH INSPIRE CREATIVITY AND ENCOURAGE AN UNDERSTANDING OF THE WORLD IN WHICH WE LIVE. IN FISCAL YEAR ENDING MAY 31, 2020, YOUNG AT ART CONTINUED TO PROVIDE PERMANENT EXHIBITION GALLERIES (ARTSCAPES, CULTURESCAPES, WONDERSCAPES, GREENSCAPES); KNIGHT, CONTEMPORARY AND YOUNG ARTISTS GALLERIES FOR TEMPORARY EXHIBITIONS; THE YAA ART INSTITUTE OFFERING ART STUDIO INSTRUCTION IN PAINTING, DRAWING, CERAMICS, VIDEO GAME DESIGN, MIXED MEDIA, PHOTOGRAPHY AND DIGITAL ARTS; A TEEN CENTER; MUSEUM PRESCHOOL; INSTALLATIONS BY RENOWNED ARTISTS; WORKSHOPS AND ART STATIONS; SCHOOL FIELD TRIPS; PUBLIC PROGRAMS AND; SPECIAL EVENTS INCLUDING A FESTIVAL OF THE ARTS AND TEEN RECYCLED FASHION SHOW. COMMUNITY PROGRAMS IMPLEMENTED IN THE FISCAL YEAR ENDING MAY 31, 2020 INCLUDED ARTREACH, AN AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM FOR CHILDREN EXPERIENCING HOMELESSNESS; GIRLS 'N POWER, A GENDER-EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM FOR AT-RISK TEEN GIRLS AT THE PACE CENTER BROWARD; ART IMMERSION, AFTER SCHOOL ART AND SCIENCE PROGRAM FOR DILLARD AND NORTHFORK ELEMENTARY SCHOOL STUDENTS; STEAM @ SUNLAND PARK, FOR UNDERPERFORMING ELEMENTARY STUDENTS; CALL (CREATIVE ARTS, LITERACY & LANGUAGE ARTS) FOR EARLY LEARNERS FOR CHILDREN ATTENDING LOW- INCOME PRESCHOOLS; AND YAA FOR ALL (ACCESS TO LIFELONG LEARNING) FOR CHILDREN AND ADULTS WITH AUTISM. IN FISCAL YEAR ENDING MAY 31, 2020, YOUNG AT ART CONTINUED INNOVATIVE COLLABORATIONS INCLUDING PRE-CURTAIN PROGRAMS AT THE BROWARD CENTER FOR PERFORMING ARTS AND AVENTURA ART & CULTURAL CENTER; IMPLEMENTATION OF THE SCHOLASTIC ART AWARDS FOR BROWARD HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS AND; A PARTNERSHIP WITH THE UNIVERSITY OF MIAMI-NOVA SOUTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY'S CENTER FOR AUTISM & RELATED DISABILITIES SERVING INDIVIDUALS ON THE AUTISM SPECTRUM. YAA ALSO INSTALLED NEW EXHIBITS INCLUDING WONDER WALLS, A SERIES OF MURAL WORKS INSTALLED THROUGHOUT THE MUSEUM BY LOCAL ARTISTS, AND INNERSPACE EXHIBITION IN THE KNIGHT GALLERY, DESIGNED AND INSTALLED BY ARTISTS NICE'N EASY. DUE TO COVID-19, YAA HAD TO TEMPORARILY CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC FROM MARCH 17, 2020 TO MAY 31, 2020 FOLLOWING STATE AND LOCAL ORDERS. WHILE THE MUSEUM WAS CLOSED, YAA DEVELOPED AND OFFERED SEVERAL MODIFIED PROGRAMS FROM MARCH TO MAY, 2020, TO KEEP THE PUBLIC AND COMMUNITY MEMBERS ENGAGED AND SAFE. NEW INITIATIVES IMPLEMENTED INCLUDED YAA AT HOME, A NEW WEBSITE WITH FREE RESOURCES ACCESSIBLE TO THE PUBLIC INCLUDING VIRTUAL MUSEUM TOURS, VIDEO ART LESSONS, AND ART ACTIVITIES CREATED BY ARTISTS, UPDATED WEEKLY WITH NEW ART PROJECTS AND VIDEOS, VIRTUAL PRESCHOOL, A MODIFIED FORMAT TO CONTINUE YAA PRESCHOOL CLASSES ONLINE, AND VIRTUAL YAA ON THE GO OUTREACH, TO CONDUCT ART WORKSHOPS ONLINE.
