Organizations Filed Purposes: THE HEIGHTS CENTER INC. WORKS TO BUILD STRONG, SELF-SUFFICIENT FAMILIES IN THE HARLEM HEIGHTS COMMUNITY OF SOUTH FORT MYERS THROUGH EDUCATION, OPPORTUNITY AND ENRICHMENT.

THE EXEMPT PURPOSE OF THE HEIGHTS CENTER INC. IS TO SUPPORT STRONG, FINANCIALLY SELF-SUFFICIENT FAMILIES IN THE HARLEM HEIGHTS COMMUNITY. OUR MISSION IS TO SUPPORT EDUCATION AND WELLNESS, PROMOTE FAMILY AND COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT, AND PROVIDE THE BENEFITS OF ENRIVHMENT AND THE ARTS. THE HEIGHTS CENTER, SUPPORTED BY THE HEIGHTS FOUNDATION, IS A PLACE FOR EDUCATION, OPPORTUNITY AND ENRICHMENT AND PROVIDES THE FOLLOWING PROGRAMMING: SCHOOL SUCCESS: STAYING IN SCHOOL IS THE MOST EFFECTIVE WAY TO ENSURE A SUCCESSFUL FUTURE. THE HEIGHTS CENTER HAS DEVELOPED SCHOOL SUCCESS PROGRAMS TO ADDRESS THE CHALLANGES THAT MAY RESULT FROM POVERTY, LIMITED ENGLISH PROFICIENCY AND LIMITED EDUCATIONAL INVOLVEMENT. THESE INCLUDE AN AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM, SUMMER CAMP, FAMILY NIGHTS AND COLLEGE WORKSHOPS. THE DCF-LICENSED AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAM PROVIDES ACADEMIC SUPPORT AND ENRICHMENT TO 120 CHILDREN IN GRADES K-8 EVERY SCHOOL DAY IN A PROGRAM MODELED AFTER 21ST CENTURY COMMUNITY LEARNING CENTERS; SUMMER CAMP PROVIDED ENRICHMENT ACTIVITIES AND ONGOIG ACADEMIC SUPPORT TO 120 SHILDREN AGES 5-14; POST-SEONDARY PROGRAMMING IS OFFERED SEVERAL TIMES A YEAR TO SUPPORT HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES. IN FY 2019-2020. 81,458 HOURS OF SERVICE WERE PROVIDED TO PARTICIPANTS.

GLAD KIDS EARLY LEARNING OFFERS QUALITY, DEVELOPMENTALLY APPROPRIATE CHILDCARE AND EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES TO CHILDREN BIRTH -AGE 5. THE CHILD CARE AND EARLY LEARNING PROGRAMS SERVE OVER 80 CHILDREN. IN FY 2019 -2020, 104,822 HOURS OF SERVICE WERE PROVIDED TO PARTICIPANTS. ARTS AND ENRICHMENT: CREATING, COMMUNICATING AND EXPLORING THROUGH THE ARTS AT ALL AGES, AND GROWING SOCIALLY, EMOTIONALLY, AND PHYSICALLY STRONG KIDS. THESE PROGRAMS PROVIDE CONNECTIONS TO EXPLORE THE CULTURAL AND EXPRESSIVE ARTS, AND BUILD COMMUNITY THROUGH THE CULTURAL ARTS. THROUGH ENRICHING CLASSES AND PROGRAMS, CHILDREN AND ADULTS ENJOY THE BENEFITS OF ACCESS TO THE ARTS, INCLUDING WORKING AS A TEAM, EXPRESSING IDEAS IN A POSITIVE WAY AND SEEING PROJECTS TO COMPLETION.

PATHWAY TO PROSPERITY: JOB SERVICES AND CLASSES FOR ADULTS PROGRAMMING FOR ADULTS INLCUDES CULINARY ARTS TRAINING CLASS WITH 95% OF GRADUATES EMPLOYED INTHE FOOD SERVICE BUSINESS. FINANCIAL EDUCATION CLASS, COMPUTER CLASSES, ENGLISH AND GED CLASSES AS WELL AS RESUME PREPARATION, INTERVIEWING STRATEGIES AND JOB APPLICAITON ASSISTANCE.
