Organizations Filed Purposes:
Promote and support orchid cultivation and preservation through education and research. Our Annual Orchid Show is the largest show east of California with attendance between 5,000 and 6,000. Our monthly member meetings educate via paid speakers from around the country.
The purpose of the Society is to stimulate interest, provide education, support conservation, and enable the exchange of information among those interested in the culture of orchids in all its aspects.
Annual Orchid Show. Ticketed event open to the public with approximately 12,000 sq ft of display area showing various ways of presenting and growing orchids. Prizes and awards are given by judges from the American Orchid Society. The Show is presented annually in January over a three day weekend.
Sale of plants and books to members at monthly meetings at which various speakers give lectures on types of orchid species and growing habits. An auction is held annually in October.
Bus excursions to growers, nurseries and nature centers in South Florida for members to see and purchase blooming species of orchids.
