IN 2019, BFREE HOSTED 8 UNIVERSITY AND COLLEGE COURSES FROM THE USA AND BELIZE FOR 114 US STUDENTS AND 25 BELIZE STUDENTS AS WELL AS 4 PROFESSORS FROM 3 US UNIVERSITIES ON STUDY-ABROAD PREVIEW TRIPS. ADDITIONALLY, BFREE HOSTED 3 PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOPS, HOSTING 20 PARTICIPANTS FROM THE USA AND BELIZE LEARNING ABOUT SNAIL AND FRESHWATER TURTLE CONSERVATION. 45% OF BFREE'S PROGRAM EXPENSES WENT TOWARD OFFERING EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES AND ACTIVITIES.

BFREE CONDUCTS AND SUPPORTS BIOLOGICAL RESEARCH ON VARIOUS ORGANISMS, INCLUDING MAMMALS, BIRDS, REPTILES AND AMPHIBIANS, INVERTEBRATES, PLANTS, AND OTHER TAXA. IN 2019, BRFEE HOSTED 25 SCIENTIFIC RESEARCHERS FROM THE USA, CANADA, AND BELIZE. RESEARCH RANGED FROM BIRD AND REPTILE STUDIES TO PLANT AND MAMMAL SURVEYS. 12% OF BFREE'S PROGRAM EXPENSES WENT TOWARDS FACILITATING AND CONDUCTING RESEARCH ACTIVITIES. BFREE CONTINUED SEVERAL LONG-TERM RESEARCH PROJECTS FOCUSING ON SMALL WILDCAT RESEARCH, FRESHWATER TURTLES, AND CACAO AGROFORESTRY.

BFREE OPERATES A PRIVATE RESEARCH AND EDUCATION FACILITY ON A 1,153-ACRE PRIVATE RESERVE OF TROPICAL RAINFOREST NESTLED IN THE FOOTHILLS OF THE MAYA MOUNTAINS IN SOUTHERN BELIZE. 43% OF BFREE'S PROGRAM EXPENSES WENT TOWARDS FIELD STATION OPERATIONS AND IMPROVEMENT.
