Organizations Filed Purposes:
Dade County Farm Bureau is committed to enhancing agriculture and the personal and economic well being of its members.
Dade County Farm Bureau tries to keep abreat of all the local, state, and national legislation impacting agriculture. We hosted and attended several meetings where we were able to discuss issues impacting agriculture: research, transportation, CDMP, fair trade, farm workforce modernization act, and water issues. By providing members the opportunity to discuss how these issue impact agriculture it allows us to work towards the betterment of agriculture.
Dade County Farm Bureau celebrated Farm City Week with a food drive to feed migrant farm worker children. We also set up an informational agricultural display at the county commission building during the week. This Government Center acts as the home-base for Miami Dade County's rail system. This venue allowed us to connect with urban residents and share information about Farm Bureau and the issues affecting agriculture in the county.
Dade County Farm Bureau offers and participates in the mini-grant program. This program allows educators to apply for funding to assist them with incorporating agriculture into their curriculum. This allows for students to learn to the importance of agriculture and its impact in our daily lives.
