THE PURPOSE OF GATOR BOWL SPORTS CHARITIES, INC IS TO: ORGANIZE, SPONSOR, PRODUCE, PROMOTE AND/OR PARTICIPATE IN ATHLETIC EVENTS, EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES, CLINICS, EXPOSITIONS AND OTHER SIMILAR PROGRAMS AND PROJECTS FOR THE BENEFIT OF THE NORTH FLORIDA COMMUNITY; MAKE GIFTS, GRANTS OR DONATIONS FOR THE PROMOTION OF CHARITABLE, SCIENTIFIC, LITERARY AND EDUCATIONAL PROGRAMS; AND TO ACT AS THE CHARITABLE ARM OF GATOR BOWL SPORTS, INC. AND JACKSONVILLE SPORTS COUNCIL. GATOR BOWL SPORTS CHARITIES, INC. RECEIVES REVENUES FROM THE GENERAL PUBLIC THROUGH EVENT SALES AND CONTRIBUTIONS.
Gator Bowl Sports Charities oversees programming focused on middle school aged students in Northeast Florida. Annually, experiences are created that provide youth with insight into sports business, scholarship opportunities, and a behind the scenes look at sporting events. The Send A Child to a game program provides youth the opportunity to experience sporting events by providing a full game day experience including game ticket, onsite meal, transportation to and from the event and a behind the scenes look at the event. The Gator Bowl Charities Award of Excellence scholarship consists of a one-time gift of $2,500 to two male and two female student-athletes for use at any accredited university or community college. In partnership with Duval County Public School's 5000 role model program, we adopted DuPont Middle School's 5000 role model program. The goal is to provide mentorship opportunities to sports businesses. Events include: 3rd Annual Jaxsports Charities Sports Career Fair (over 350 middle schoolers in attendance and 18 sports professionals attended as vendors); stadium tour + athlete talk with student-athletes from Jacksonville University and University of North Florida; college campus visit.
