Organizations Filed Purposes: THE MISSION OF SPAR IS TO ENSURE HISTORIC SPRINGFIELD IS A PREFERRED PLACE TO LIVE AND DO BUSINESS BY LEADING PROGRAMS THAT DRIVE THE PRESERVATION, REVITALIZATION, AND BALANCED GROWTH OF OUR COMMUNITY.

SPAR EXECUTED ITS 5TH ANNUAL JACKSONVILLE PORCHFEST IN NOVEMBER 2018. THIS FREE MUSIC FESTIVAL IS HELD ON THE WELCOMING FRONT PORCHES OF HISTORIC SPRINGFIELD WITH PLENTY OF LOCAL ART AND FOOD VENDORS IN ADDITION TO THEMED AREAS FOR CHILDREN AND DOGS. THROUGHOUT OF THE DAY, DOZENS OF BANDS PERFORM ON THE HISTORIC FRONT PORCHES THROUGHOUT JACKSONVILLE'S OLDEST NEIGHBORHOOD AND THOUSANDS OF EAGER ATTENDEES FILL THE STREETS. ATTENDANCE AND PROFITS CONTINUE TO INCREASE AS WELL AS THE CHANGING OF NEGATIVE PERCEPTIONS OF THE NEIGHBORHOOD AFTER PEOPLE ATTEND THIS LOCALLY LOVED EVENT. A PORTION OF THE FESTIVAL PROCEEDS ARE SPENT ON ART INSTALLATIONS IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD INCLUDING SEVERAL MURALS AND SCULPTURES.

SPAR CREATED MUSIC ON MAIN, A MONTHLY MUSIC SERIES LAUNCHED AS PART OF THE 150TH ANNIVERSARY OF HISTORIC SPRINGFIELD. MUSIC ON MAIN WAS HELD ALMOST EVERY MONTH FROM FEBRUARY TO OCTOBER IN SESQUICENTENNIAL PARK. THE EVENT INCLUDED FOOD TRUCKS, LIVE MUSIC, LOCAL BEER AND WINE FOR PURCHASE, AND WAS FREE AND OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. SPAR WAS EXCITED TO BRING THIS FREE MUSIC SERIES TO THE JACKSONVILLE COMMUNITY. THE SERIES BROUGHT AN AVERAGE OF 350 PEOPLE TO EACH AND WAS ATTENDED BY A LARGE NUMBER OF NON-SPRINGFIELD RESIDENTS.

SPAR EXECUTED ITS 41ST ANNUAL HOME TOUR IN MAY 2019. THIS PROGRAM IS ALWAYS A LOCAL FAVORITE WITH ATTENDEES HOVERING AROUND 1000 FOR THE PAST MULTIPLE YEARS. THIS TOUR HIGHLIGHTS THE UNIQUE ARCHITECTURE AND PERSONALITY OF THE NEIGHBORHOOD AND STRENGTHENS THE REPUTATION OF THE WALKABILITY AND BIKE- ABILITY OF THE NEIGHBORHOOD. THIS IS CURRENTLY THE ONLY TICKETED EVENT THAT SPAR ORGANIZES. BUT EVEN STILL, TICKET PRICES HAVE STAYED THE SAME FOR OVER 5 YEARS TO MAXIMIZE THE AFFORDABILITY FOR MOST PEOPLE TO PARTICIPATE.
