In 2019, The Sea Turtle Hospital at Loggerhead Marinelife Center treated 153 sea turtle patients and admitted 1,179 hatchlings. By the end of the year, 112 sea turtles and 749 hatchlings were released back into the wild.
Loggerhead Marinelife Center monitors 9.5 miles of beach which serves as a critically important nesting habitat for endangered sea turtles. The Research Department reported nearly 17,000 sea turtle nests and 43,500 sea turtle crawls in 2020. The monitored nests contained around 1.4 million sea turtle eggs. Approximately 900,000 hatchlings were produced on the beach during the 2020 nesting season.
Over 74,000 individuals participated in one of the 39 district educational programs which included the Junior Marine Biologist Camp, field trips and conservation initiatives. Loggerhead Marinelife Center reached over 180,000 individuals through educational programs both on and off campus, including National Learning Standard-aligned lessons in over 200 Palm Beach County classrooms.
