Organizations Filed Purposes: Identifying root causes of community problems and taking action in order to resolve them.

Due to Covid-19, we were unable to organize in person. PEACE organized 50 community members to come together over Zoom to receive commitments from the Mayors of Lakeland and Winter Haven to address access to affordable housing. Over the course of the year, over 75 members in the community participated in small group meetings over Zoom to address concerns around criminal justice.

PEACE trained 100 residents to become leaders by organizing members of their congregations into networks or systems of relationships, that work to improve the community. When large numbers of people are needed to address a specific community problem, these trained leaders actively engage their networks to participate in community action events. Leaders are also trained to research the root causes of community problems and work with the community to develop solutions.

PEACE trained leaders from diverse denominational, racial, and socio-economic backgrounds to build relationships and work together on community problems that they are affected by. Through small group meetings, PEACE has fostered cross-racial unity. In 2020, 350 people participated in these discussions.
