THE PRIMARY PROGRAM IS TO PROVIDE A FACILITY FOR THE PUBLIC IN ORDER TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY OF LIFE THROUGH CULTURAL AND VISUAL ARTS. POLK MUSEUM OF ART SERVED OVER 142,000 VISITORS DURING OUR FISCAL YEAR. WE ARE PROUD TO BE ACCREDITED BY THE AMERICAN ALLIANCE OF MUSEUMS, AND WITH OUR PARTNERSHIP WITH THE SMITHSONIAN INSTITUTION AS A SMITHSONIAN AFFILIATE MUSEUM. OUR COLLECTIONS AND PROGRAMS MAKE US A WELL KNOWN AND RESPECTED ORGANIZATION IN FLORIDA.
THROUGH OUR EDUCATION PROGRAMMING WE STRIVE TO BRING PEOPLE AND ART TOGETHER. WITH GRANT AND SPONSOR SUPPORT WE ARE ABLE TO PROVIDE OUTREACH PROGRAMS TO OVER 5,900 INDIVIDUALS, WITH NO COST TO THEM. OUR OUTREACH PROGRAMS INCLUDE: PARKER STREET MINISTRIES SUMMER ART CAMP PROGRAM; EMPOWERING YOUTH MENTORSHIP PROGRAM; PARKER STREET MINISTRIES TEEN PROGRAM; PARKER STREET MINISTRIES AFTER-SCHOOL PROGRAM; READING READINESS ART PROGRAMS AT BOTH LIGHTHOUSE MINISTRIES PRE-SCHOOL FOR HOMELESS CHILDREN AND SALVATION ARMY PRE-SCHOOL FOR HOMELESS CHILDREN; ART PROGRAMS FOR TEEN PARENTS AT 1 VOCATIONAL LOCATION; ART PROGRAM FOR TEENS-AT-RISK AT PACE FOR GIRLS. WE ALSO PROVIDE FREE FAMILY ART WORKSHOPS TWICE A MONTH, BOTH ON-SITE AND THROUGHOUT THE COMMUNITY. CONTINUED ON SCHEDULE O.ON-SITE PROGRAMMING INCLUDES DOCENT LED TOURS FOR ALL THE 5TH-GRADE STUDENTS IN POLK COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS; ART CLASSES FOR ALL AGES AND SKILL LEVELS; SPRING AND SUMMER ART CAMP FOR YOUTH (SCHOLARSHIPS ARE AVAILABLE); STUDENT ART EXHIBITIONS AND RECEPTIONS FOR ALL GRADE LEVELS; LECTURES; WORKSHOPS; PERFORMANCES; AND OTHER SPECIAL EVENTS.
