Organizations Filed Purposes: TO ASSIST IN CREATING SAFE, HEALTHY, SELF-SUFFICIENT LIVES BY PROVIDING SUPPORT, EDUCATION, COUNSELING, INFORMATION AND SERVICES TO SURVIVORS OF DOMESTIC, DATING, AND SEXUAL VIOLENCE, AND THOSE SUFFERING THE ILL EFFECTS OF POVERTY, HOMELESSNESS, AND MENTAL HEALTH CHALLENGES.

VICTIM ADVOCACYTHE VICTIM SERVICES PROGRAM PROVIDES SUPPORTIVE INTERVENTION TO THOSE IMPACTED BY INTERPERSONAL VIOLENCE. INTERPERSONAL VIOLENCE INCLUDES DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, BATTERY, SEXUAL ASSAULT, STALKING, AND HUMAN TRAFFICKING. ADVOCATES EMPLOY A VARIETY OF SUPPORTIVE SERVICES, GUIDING SURVIVORS THROUGH THE DIFFICULT PROCESS OF LEARNING TO COPE WITH THE EFFECTS OF TRAUMA. THESE SUPPORTIVE SERVICES INCLUDE SAFETY PLANNING, ASSISTANCE OBTAINING EMERGENCY SHELTER, EMOTIONAL SUPPORT DURING SEXUAL ASSAULT EXAMS, LEGAL ADVOCACY, CASE MANAGEMENT, FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE, INFORMATION AND REFERRAL TO COMMUNITY RESOURCES, AND CRISIS INTERVENTION. ADVOCACY EMPOWERS SURVIVORS AS THEY CREATE A PLAN FOR MOVING FORWARD SAFELY AFTER VICTIMIZATION, ENSURING THEIR VOICES ARE HEARD AND RIGHTS ARE RESPECTED. IN 2019, VICTIM ADVOCATES ASSISTED 4,098 CLIENTS WITH ADVOCACY, PROVIDING A TOTAL OF 34,565 INDIVIDUAL SERVICES. EMERGENCY SAFE & TRANSITIONAL HOUSINGTHE WOMEN'S CENTER PROVIDED 45 ADULTS AND 50 CHILDREN WITH EMERGENCY SHELTER THROUGH TWO SAFE HOUSES, AND ASSISTED 6 ADULTS AND 10 CHILDREN WITH EMERGENCY HOTEL STAYS.THE WOMEN'S CENTER TRANSITIONAL SAFE HOUSING PROGRAM, PROVIDES LONG-TERM, COMPREHENSIVE CASE MANAGEMENT FOR HOMELESS WOMEN AND THEIR CHILDREN. IN 2019, THE TRANSITIONAL SAFE HOUSING PROGRAM ASSISTED 16 WOMEN AND THEIR CHILDREN, OR 40 INDIVIDUALS, AND PROVIDED 336 CASE MANAGEMENT SERVICES. OF THE INDIVIDUALS WHO COMPLETED THE PROGRAM IN 2019, 85% QUALIFIED AND TRANSFERRED TO PERMANENT HOUSING.SELF-SUFFICIENCYTHE WOMEN'S CENTER OF BREVARD PROVIDES BASIC SURVIVAL NEEDS FOR CLIENTS AND THEIR FAMILIES AT RISK. IN 2019, THE WOMEN'S CENTER PROVIDED 3,410 INDIVIDUALS WITH 8,876 SERVICES. SURVIVAL NEEDS ARE ADDRESSED BY OFFERING FOOD, DIAPERS, TOILETRIES, FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE, CLOTHING AND FURNITURE VOUCHERS. SEXUAL ASSAULT VICTIM SERVICES (SAVS)THE WOMEN'S CENTER OF BREVARD HAS BEEN THE CERTIFIED RAPE CRISIS CENTER FOR BREVARD COUNTY SINCE MARCH 2017. THE SAVS RAPE HELPLINE (321) 784-HELP (4357) IS ANSWERED 24 HOURS PER DAY TO OFFER SUPPORT, ADVOCACY, INFORMATION ON REPORTING OPTIONS, REFERRALS FOR COUNSELING, SUPPORT GROUPS, AND OTHER COMMUNITY RESOURCES TO ASSIST ANYONE WHO HAS BEEN AFFECTED BY SEXUAL VIOLENCE. SAVS ADVOCATES ARE AVAILABLE 24 HOURS PER DAY TO PROVIDE IN PERSON EMOTIONAL SUPPORT AND ACCOMPANIMENT TO VICTIMS WHILE THEY GET FORENSIC EVIDENCE COLLECTED. SAVS STAFF VICTIM ADVOCATES ARE AVAILABLE FOR APPOINTMENTS MONDAY-FRIDAY FROM 9:00AM-4:00PM AT THE MELBOURNE AND TITUSVILLE WOMEN'S CENTER OFFICES. IN 2019, THE SAVS HELPLINE RECEIVED 1,322 CALLS. EACH CALLER WAS PROVIDED IMMEDIATE SUPPORT, REFERRALS, AND ADVOCACY. 82 VICTIMS REQUESTED AND RECEIVED EVIDENCE COLLECTION BY A SEXUAL ASSAULT NURSE EXAMINER (SANE). 2,150 INDIVIDUAL SERVICES WERE PROVIDED TO VICTIMS OF SEXUAL ASSAULT, THEIR FAMILIES, FRIENDS, AND OTHERS IMPACTED BY THE CRIME. THESE EXPANDED SERVICES ALLOW THE WOMEN'S CENTER TO OFFER A HOLISTIC APPROACH TO HEALING. SAVS RELIES HEAVILY ON OUR VOLUNTEERS, WHO TOOK 6,728 HOURS IN ON-CALL SHIFTS. COUNSELING PROGRAM:THE WOMEN'S CENTER PROVIDES FREE, EVIDENCE BASED TREATMENT TO INDIVIDUALS AFFECTED BY TRAUMA. COUNSELING IS ALSO OFFERED ON A SLIDING SCALE AND BY INSURANCE REIMBURSEMENT FOR OTHER GENERAL MENTAL HEALTH PRESENTATIONS. OUR TEAM OF HIGHLY TRAINED TRAUMA RECOVERY PROVIDERS INCLUDE PSYCHOLOGISTS, LICENSED MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELORS, REGISTERED INTERNS, AND GRADUATE STUDENTS. IN 2019, THE COUNSELING PROGRAM HELPED 636 WOMEN, MEN, AND CHILDREN WITH INDIVIDUAL, COUPLES, FAMILY, OR GROUP COUNSELING. IN TOTAL, 5,103 COUNSELING SERVICES WERE PROVIDED. IN ADDITION TO INDIVIDUAL THERAPY, THE WOMEN'S CENTER ALSO PROVIDES ONGOING WORKSHOPS AND GROUP THERAPY. GROUPS ARE PSYCHOEDUCATIONAL AND COVER AREAS OF TRAUMA, DOMESTIC VIOLENCE, SELF-ESTEEM, MINDFULNESS, AND PARENTING. PREVENTION & YOUTH PROGRAMS:GREEN DOTTHROUGH A PARTNERSHIP WITH EASTERN FLORIDA STATE COLLEGE, THE WOMEN'S CENTER PROVIDES GREEN DOT; A VIOLENCE PREVENTION STRATEGY THAT EMPOWERS BYSTANDERS TO HELP REDUCE POWER-BASED PERSONAL VIOLENCE IN OUR COMMUNITY. 232 STUDENTS, FACULTY AND STAFF WERE TRAINED IN 2019.VIOLENCE PREVENTION EDUCATORS ALSO PRESENT AT VARIOUS COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS REGARDING SUCH TOPICS AS CONSENT AND BYSTANDER INTERVENTION. WE BELIEVE THAT POWER-BASED VIOLENCE CAN BE PREVENTED IN OUR COMMUNITY THROUGH PARTNERSHIPS, TRAINING, EDUCATION AND AWARENESS. CAMP GAIATHE ANNUAL CAMP GAIA SUMMER PROGRAM SERVED 23 YOUNG WOMEN ENTERING GRADES 5-8 IN 2019. THE CURRICULUM INCORPORATED COMMUNITY SERVICE ACTIVITIES, LIFE SKILLS LESSONS, AND PEER BONDING EXPERIENCES. ATTENDEES MET WITH FEMALE ROLE MODELS IN THE COMMUNITY FROM A VARIETY OF PROFESSIONS, GAINING VALUABLE KNOWLEDGE OF POTENTIAL CAREER OPPORTUNITIES. CAREER FIELDS INCLUDED THE ARTS, LAW, ENVIRONMENTAL/NATURAL RESOURCES, MEDICINE, EMERGENCY SERVICES, AND SCIENCES.CAMP GAIA IS DESIGNED TO SUPPORT THE DEVELOPMENT OF POSITIVE COPING STRATEGIES, BUILD SELF-ESTEEM, AND FOSTER COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT. TARGETING YOUNG WOMEN AT THE CRUCIAL PRE-TEEN DEVELOPMENTAL STAGE, THE GOAL OF CAMP GAIA IS TO EMPOWER FUTURE GENERATIONS WITH THE SKILLSET TO MAKE A POSITIVE IMPACT ON THEIR COMMUNITIES. THE CAMP GAIA CURRICULUM TEACHES YOUNG WOMEN THAT WITH HARD WORK AND DETERMINATION NO GOAL IS OUT OF REACH.

FURNITURE STORE: SELLS DONATED GOODS TO CUSTOMERS, AND DONATES A PERCENTAGE OF PROCEEDS EARNED BACK TO THE CLIENTS OF THE WOMEN'S CENTER IN THE FORM OF FURNITURE STORE DONATION VOUCHERS.
