ACHIEVE MIAMI INC. IS A FLORIDA 501 C 3 NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION THAT DEVELOPS AND MANAGES PROGRAMS THAT INCREASE EDUCATIONAL EQUITY IN MIAMI. THE ORGANIZATION IDENTIFIES CHILDREN GROWING UP IN POVERTY AND CONNECTS THEM TO INNOVATIVE LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES. WE ATTRACT, DEVELOP, AND MOBILIZE TALENTED LEADERS OF ALL AGES AND BACKGROUNDS TO SERVE THESE STUDENTS IN A WAY THAT CREATES SOCIAL CHANGE. OVER 1,200 STUDENTS (GRADES 1-12) PARTICIPATED IN ACHIEVE PROGRAMS FROM 3 ELEMENTARY SITES, 1 K-8 SITE, AND OVER 30 HIGH SCHOOLS IN MIAMI-DADE COUNTY.
ACHIEVE MIAMI INC. (THE ORGANIZATION) IS A FLORIDA 501 C 3 NON-PROFIT ORGANIZATION THAT ADVANCES EDUCATIONAL EQUITY FOR STUDENTS IN UNDERSERVED AREAS OF MIAMI-DADE. ACHIEVE MIAMI PARTNERS WITH EDUCATORS, STUDENTS, AND SCHOOLS TO BRIDGE DISPARITIES, PROVIDE MEANINGFUL EDUCATIONAL EXPERIENCES, AND DEMONSTRATE THE POWER OF STUDENTS LEARNING WITH AND FROM EACH OTHER. THE ORGANIZATION OPERATES A VARIETY OF PROGRAMS: ON ACHIEVE SATURDAYS, THE ORGANIZATION MATCHES ELEMENTARY STUDENTS WITH HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS FROM ACROSS MIAMI-DADE FOR MENTORING IN READING AND WRITING. THE ELEMENTARY STUDENTS (LITTLE BUDDIES) BOND WITH THEIR HIGH SCHOOL MENTORS (BIG BUDDIES), WHICH LEADS TO ACADEMIC GAINS AND SOCIAL EMOTIONAL LEARNING. THE ACHIEVE SUMMER PROGRAM PROVIDES OVER 400 PUBLIC ELEMENTARY STUDENTS WITH SIX WEEKS OFACADEMIC ENRICHMENT ALONG WITH FOCUSED CURRICULA IN CULINARY ARTS, VISUAL ARTS, STEM, WELLNESS,AND MUSIC. OVER 100 HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS PARTICIPATE AS PAID INTERNS AND PARTAKE IN DAILY COLLEGE READINESS AND LEADERSHIP ACTIVITIES AS WELL AS SUPPORTING PROGRAMMING FOR ELEMENTARY STUDENTSALONGSIDE ADDITIONAL HIGH SCHOOL VOLUNTEERS. ACHIEVE MUSIC PROVIDES AFTER-SCHOOL MUSIC CLASSES TO STUDENTS AT NUMEROUS ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS THROUGHOUT MIAMI-DADE COUNTY. STUDENTS GAIN SKILL IN MUSICAL AREAS SUCH AS PERCUSSION, PIANO,VOICE, MUSIC THEORY, AND MUSIC TECHNOLOGY. THE COLLEGE AND CAREER READINESS COHORT PROVIDES 150+ PUBLIC HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS WITH YEAR-ROUND COLLEGE AND CAREER READINESS TRAINING, INCLUDING PREPARATION FOR SAT AND ACT TESTS, COLLEGE APPLICATION WORKSHOPS, AND PERSONAL AND LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMS. BEGINNING IN THE 2020-2021 SCHOOL YEAR, THE COLLEGE AND CAREER READINESS PROGRAM WILL BE ABSORBED INTO TWO NEW INITIATIVES. THE ACHIEVE CLUB AND THE ACHIEVE SCHOLARS PROGRAM. THE ACHIEVE CLUB WILL PROVIDE SERVICE, LEADERSHIP, AND COLLEGE READINESS OPPORTUNITIES TO 650+ STUDENTS IN GRADES 9-12 THROUGHOUT MIAMI-DADE AND THE ACHIEVE SCHOLARS WILL PROVIDE INTENSIVE ANDTARGETED SUPPORT TO A COHORT OF 80 SENIORS AS THEY APPLY TO AND MATRICULATE TO COLLEGE. SCHOLARS WILL ALSO RECEIVE SUPPORT WITHIN THEIR FRESHMAN YEAR OF COLLEGE TO ENSURE THEIR CONTINUED SUCCESS.
