Organizations Filed Purposes:
TO PROMOTE CIVIL LIBERTIES THROUGH COMMUNICATION AND INTERACTION WITH AND BETWEEN THE CITIZENS AND LEGISLATORS OF THE STATE OF FLORIDA
PUBLIC EDUCATION THROUGH ITS WEBSITE, SOCIAL MEDIA, OP-EDS, BLOG POSTS, MULTIMEDIA, AND ADVERTISEMENTS, THE ACLU OF FLORIDA ENGAGES PEOPLE ON OUR CORE PRIORITY ISSUES AND OTHER CIVIL LIBERTIES AND CIVIL RIGHTS MATTERS. WE USE INSPIRING, INFORMATIVE, AND EDUCATIONAL MATERIAL TO ADVOCATE FOR AND ADVANCE CIVIL LIBERTIES AND CIVIL RIGHTS FOR ALL FLORIDIANS. THESE PRIORITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO EDUCATION ON CRIMINAL JUSTICE REFORM INITIATIVES, LGBTQ+ RIGHTS, REPRODUCTIVE JUSTICE, IMMIGRANTS' RIGHTS, MASS SURVEILLANCE AND TECHNOLOGY, PRIVACY RIGHTS, YOUTH JUSTICE, RACIAL JUSTICE AND MORE. IN ADDITION TO MEDIA CONTENT, PUBLIC EDUCATION INITIATIVES INCLUDE WORKSHOPS, SEMINARS, FORUMS AND WEBINARS.
CHAPTER SUPPORT CHAPTER SUPPORT CONSISTS OF A ROBUST TRAINING AND ENGAGEMENT PROGRAM AROUND THE KEY INITIATIVES BEING UNDERTAKEN BY THE ACLU OF FLORIDA. WE ENGAGE IN PLANNING SESSIONS TO IDENTIFY AREAS OF WORK IN EACH OF THE GEOGRAPHIC AREAS REPRESENTED BY 13 CHAPTERS. WE MOBILIZE OUR CHAPTER VOLUNTEERS THROUGH FACEBOOK LIVE SESSIONS, WEBINARS, AND IN PERSON GATHERINGS AROUND THE STATE. FINANCIAL SUPPORT IS PROVIDED TO EACH CHAPTER FOR WORK IN FURTHERANCE OF THE OVERALL GOALS.
LEGAL PROGRAMS THE LEGAL DEPARTMENT ENGAGES IN BOTH LITIGATION AND NON-LITIGATION LEGAL ADVOCACY ACROSS THE STATE OF FLORIDA. AT ANY GIVEN TIME, THE DEPARTMENT IS INVOLVED IN DOZENS OF INVESTIGATIONS, RESEARCH ASSIGNMENTS, ADVOCACY EFFORTS, AND CASES. WITH STAFF ATTORNEYS ACROSS THE STATE OF FLORIDA, ADDITIONAL LEGAL STAFF IN MIAMI, AND IN COOPERATION THE COOPERATING COUNSEL ACROSS THE STATE, THE DEPARTMENT LITIGATES CASES ACROSS THE SPECTRUM OF CIVIL LIBERTIES, INCLUDING VOTING RIGHTS, IMMIGRATION, CRIMINAL-JUSTICE ISSUES, LGBTQ RIGHTS, AND REPRODUCTIVE FREEDOM, AMONG OTHERS.
