THE CHILDRENS MOVEMENT OF FLORIDA IS A NONPROFIT, NONPARTISAN MOVEMENT OF FLORIDIANS INSISTING ON A STRONG START FOR ALL FLORIDA CHILDREN. WE ADVOCATE FOR HIGH-QUALITY EARLY LEARNING OPPORTUNITIES, ACCESS TO CHILDRENS HEALTH CARE, AND PARENT SUPPORT PROGRAMS IN FLORIDA.
WE RAISE PUBLIC AWARENESS ON EARLY CHILDHOOD THROUGH STRATEGIC ADVOCACY EFFORTS AND COMMUNITY OUTREACH EFFORTS REACHING PARENTS ALL ACROSS THE STATE. THE MOVEMENT DOES NOT USE ANY TAX DOLLARS FOR THIS WORK, AND DOES NOT ENDORSE POLITICAL CANDIDATES OR POLITICAL PARTIES/AGENDAS. THROUGHOUT 2019, WE HOSTED AND/OR PARTICIPATED IN NEARLY 100 COMMUNITY EVENTS IN 10+ FLORIDA REGIONS-RANGING FROM EARLY LEARNING CENTER SITE VISITS WITH LEGISLATORS, SPEAKING ENGAGEMENTS, COMMUNITY TABLING EVENTS, AND LOCAL ADVISORY BOARD LEADERSHIP MEETINGS. IN FULL COMPLEMENT TO THESE DAILY ON-THE-GROUND ACTIVITIES, THE MOVEMENT ALSO IMPLEMENTS COORDINATED ADVOCACY EFFORTS ON A DAILY BASIS TO ENGAGE HIGH-LEVEL BUSINESS,POLITICAL AND COMMUNITY LEADERS AROUND OUR FOCUS ISSUES. WE FURTHER ENGAGE THE STATE LEGISLATURE, KEY STAKEHOLDERS, AND PARENTS WITH A STRATEGIC AND FAR-REACHING COMMUNICATION STRATEGY TO SPREAD THE MESSAGE OF EARLY INVESTMENT THROUGH EMAIL NEWSLETTERS, SOCIAL MEDIA, AND THE MOVEMENTS WEBSITE. THROUGH THESE DAILY ACTIVITIES, WE HAVE BEEN ABLE TO: - ENGAGE THOUSANDS OF NEW SUPPORTERS FOR EARLY CHILDHOOD ACROSS THE STATE, - FOSTER DISCUSSIONS OF QUALITY STANDARDS IN FLORIDAS EARLY LEARNING PROGRAMS, SETTING THE STAGE FOR INCREASED FUNDING IN THE COMING YEARS, - RETAIN FUNDING FOR THE FREE PARENT RESOURCE LINE, HELP ME GROW, WHICH NOW SERVES ABOUT 75% OF FLORIDA FAMILIES, - WORK WITH THE FLORIDA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE ON THE EARLY LEARNING BUSINESS ALLIANCE, AND ENSURE BROAD BUSINESS SUPPORT FOR HIGH-QUALITY EARLY LEARNING IN OUR STATE, - MANAGE A STATEWIDE VOLUNTEER INITIATIVE, READINGPALS, FOCUSED ON EARLY LITERACY AND MENTORSHIP AND SERVING MORE THAN 3,000 CHILDREN ACROSS THE STATE.
