THE MISSION OF HEALTH FOUNDATION OF SOUTH FLORIDA IS TO INVEST IN AND BE A CATALYST FOR COLLABORATIONS, POLICY AND SYSTEMS CHANGE THAT IMPROVES THE HEALTH OF SOUTH FLORIDA COMMUNITIES, WITH A FOCUS ON VULNERABLE, LOW TO MODERATE-INCOME POPULATIONS.

THE ORGANIZATION'S RESPONSIVE GRANTMAKING PROGRAM APPROVED GRANTS IN 2019 TO SUPPORT PROJECT PLANNING, ORGANIZATIONAL CAPACITY, DIRECT SERVICES AND SYSTEM/POLICY AND ENVIRONMENT WITH A MISSION TO IMPROVE THE HEALTH STATUS OF PEOPLE IN BROWARD, MIAMI-DADE, AND MONROE COUNTIES. THESE GRANTS TARGET LOW-INCOME AND UNDESERVED RESIDENTS; REDUCE HEALTH CARE BARRIERS AND INCREASE ACCESS TO COMMUNITY-BASED PRIMARY HEALTH SERVICES, INCLUDING ORAL AND BEHAVIORAL HEALTH. HEALTH FOUNDATION FOCUSES ON PROMOTING HEALTHY LIFESTYLES; STRENGTHENING NONPROFIT HEALTH PROVIDERS' CAPACITY TO DELIVER SUSTAINABLE HEALTH SERVICE; AND, IMPROVING THE QUALITY, VALUE, AND CULTURAL SENSITIVITY OF HEALTH SERVICES AND ELIMINATING HEALTH DISPARITIES FOR ALL.
IN 2019 THE ORGANIZATION CONTINUED ITS PLACE BASED LIVE HEALTHY COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS INITIATIVE AND HAS DEDICATED UP TO $7.5 MILLION IN COMMUNITY INVESTMENTS OVER FIVE YEARS THROUGH FEBRUARY 2020 FOR THIS INITIATIVE TO PROMOTE AND PRESERVE THE HEALTH OF RESIDENTS OF LITTLE HAVANA AND MIAMI GARDENS. THE LIVE HEALTHY COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS PROVIDED GRANTS TO QUALIFIED NONPROFIT HEALTH ORGANIZATIONS FOR THE IMPLEMENTATION OF POLICY, SYSTEM AND ENVIRONMENTAL CHANGE STRATEGIES AIMED AT IMPROVING COMMUNITY HEALTH.
THE ORGANIZATION'S ADMINISTRATIVE GRANTS PROGRAM ARE FOR SMALLER GRANTS TYPICALLY RANGING IN SIZE FROM $1,500 TO $30,000 AND MUST BE APPROVED BY BOTH THE VICE PRESIDENT OF OPERATIONS/STRATEGY AND THE PRESIDENT/CEO. ADMINISTRATIVE GRANTS ARE USED TO SUPPORT ONE-TIME COSTS AND SMALL PROJECTS TYPICALLY LASTING LESS THAN A YEAR.
