Organizations Filed Purposes: PROMOTE AND INCREASE AWARENESS OF BOOKS IN THE MIAMI AREA AND THROUGHOUT FLORIDA.

MIAMI BOOK FAIR IS AN ANNUAL LITERARY FESTIVAL DESIGNED TO PROMOTE AWARENESS OF LITERATURE AND BOOKS. OVER THE YEARS, THE FAIR HAS GAINED NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL FAME AS THE LARGEST AND FINEST LITERARY EVENT IN THE NATION. AS A RESULT, SEVERAL HUNDRED THOUSAND BOOK LOVERS AND WRITERS FROM FLORIDA, THE U.S., AND OTHER COUNTRIES VISIT DOWNTOWN MIAMI TO ENJOY MORE THAN 400 AUTHORS WHO WILL READ THEIR BOOKS OR PARTICIPATE IN PANEL DISCUSSIONS. IN ADDITION, VISITORS MAY ALSO ENJOY THE EXHIBITS OF MORE THAN 180 NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL PUBLISHERS, BOOKSELLERS AND VENDORS THAT ARE PRESENTED IN A FESTIVAL ATMOSPHERE DURING THE WEEKEND STREET FAIR. THE FAIR IS AN EIGHT-DAY EVENT THAT OCCURS EACH NOVEMBER IN DOWNTOWN MIAMI. THE "EVENING'S WITH" READING SERIES RUNS FROM OPENING SUNDAY THROUGH FRIDAY AND FEATURES A MAJOR LITERARY FIGURE EACH NIGHT. EACH EVENING DURING THE WEEK, WE ALSO HOST TWILIGHT TASTINGS, A UNIQUE CULTURAL AND CULINARY EVENT, OFFERS HORS D-OEUVRES, A COMPLIMENTARY COCKTAIL AND NIGHTLY ENTERTAINMENT BEFORE THE EVENING AUTHOR PRESENTATIONS DURING THE WEEK. EACH YEAR A DIFFERENT COUNTRY WILL BE SELECTED AS THE FEATURED COUNTRY. IN 2013, SPAIN WAS THE CELEBRATED COUNTRY. DURING THE EIGHT DAYS, MIAMI BOOK FAIR SHOWCASED SPAIN'S LITERATURE BY PRESENTING MANY OF THEIR WELL-KNOWN AUTHORS AND EXHIBITING OVER 10,000 BOOKS. IN ADDITION, THE FAIR PRESENTED SPAIN'S MUSIC, ART, CUISINE AND TRADITIONS OFFERING THE GENERAL PUBLIC THE ABILITY TO LEARN ABOUT A NEW CULTURE. ON THURSDAY, CREATIVE WRITING CLASSES AND PUBLISHING SEMINARS ARE OFFERED TO ASSIST WRITERS ENCHANCE THEIR SKILLS. AGAIN THIS YEAR, WE PRESENTED A NUMBER OF AUTHORS WHO DEDICATE THEIR CRAFT TO WRITING GRAPHIC NOVELS AND COMIC BOOKS. THESE AUTHORS PRESENTED DURING THE WEEKEND OF THE FAIR. THE GRAPHIC NOVELS; AND THE FAIR'S COMICS COMPONENT AS WHOLE; WILL CELEBRATE THE HISTORICAL PLACE IN OUR COUNTRY'S LITERARY LIFE, AS WELL AS THEIR RECENT RISE IN POPULARITY AND INTEGRATION INTO THE MAINSTREAM VIA BOOKS STORES, LIBRARIES AND EDUCATIONAL CURRICULA ALL OVER THE COUNTRY. DURING THE THREE-DAY STREET FAIR WEEKEND, BOOKSELLERS EXHIBIT AND SELL BOOKS FROM AROUND THE COUNTRY. THE ANTIQUARIAN ANNEX SHOWCASES RARE BOOKS, SIGNED FIRST EDITIONS, ORIGINAL MANUSCRIPTS AND OTHER COLLECTIBLES. OVER 19,500 CHILDREN VISIT EACH YEAR, INCLUDING FIELD TRIPS FROM PRIVATE AND PUBLIC SCHOOLS. CHILDREN'S ALLEY ACTIVITIES INCLUDE BOOK INSPIRED THEATER AND ARTS-AND-CRAFTS, AS WELL AS STORYTELLING AND READING BY CHILDREN'S BOOK AUTHORS FROM AROUND THE WORLD. THE FESTIVAL OF AUTHORS OCCURS ON SATURDAY AND SUNDAY AND INCLUDES 400 AUTHORS PRESENTING THEIR WORKS, INCLUDING THE LATIN AMERICAN AND SPANISH AUTHORS WHO PARTICIPATE IN THE IBERO-AMERICAN AUTHORS PROGRAM. THE FAIR ALSO HONORS FLORIDA'S CARIBBEAN COMMUNITIES WITH ITS CARIBBEAN AND HAITIAN AUTHORS PROGRAM, WHICH YEARLY PRESENTS CARIBBEAN WRITERS LIVING IN THE U.S. AND ABOARD.
