To build the collective strenght of low-income people by creating a broad deep base among those mostly affected by the social issues of poverty, racism, and gender oppression. . Developing strategy and tactical leadership. Shifting the public debate around issues impacting the people and creating alliances to amplify the power and message.
The vision of the Miami Workers Center is to create a progressive political and social enviroment in South Florida that allows for the full growth and development of low-income communities of color.
Gender Justice - addresses the causes and consequences of gender inequality, both locally and nationally. While gender inequality is detrimental, the focus is on the needs of those individuals who have traditionally had difficulty accessing justice.
Leadership development - program for aspiring community organizers where interns learn how to conduct outreach within the community, recruit members, organize and facilitate meetings, become effective public speakers and how to develop campaigns to address critical community issues.
Economic justice - To promote a fair economy and opportunities for hardworking Miamians, for good paying jobs, unemployment benefits for all workers including the most vulnerable workers, and access to quality and affordable housing.
