PARENT TO PARENT OF MIAMI'S MISSION IS TO EMPOWER AND SUPPORT A NETWORK OF PARENTS WHO HAVE CHILDREN AND ADULTS WITH DISABILITIES.
PARENT TO PARENT OF MIAMI CONTINUES TO WORK TIRELESSLY FOR THE FAMILIES IN MIAMI DADE COUNTY WHO HAVE CHILDREN WITH DISABILITIES AND SPECIAL NEEDS. OUR PARENT RESOURCE CENTER PROVIDED PEER SUPPORT TO OVER 1,200 FAMILIES WITH ASSISTANCE RANGING FROM ADVOCACY SUPPORT FOR SCHOOL ISSUES, COMMUNITY AND FINANCIAL RESOURCES PLUS MUCH NEEDED EMOTIONAL SUPPORT DURING TRYING TIMES DUE TO THE UNUSUAL COVID-19 PANDEMIC. MUCH NEEDED WORKSHOPS TO HELP PARENTS UNDERSTAND SPECIAL EDUCATION LAW, FINANCIAL, TRANSITION AND OTHER DISABILITY SPECIFIC TOPICS WERE WELL RECEIVED BOTH IN-PERSON AND VIRTUALLY WITH 637 PARENT PARTICIPANTS. AN ADDITIONAL 164 PARENTS WERE PROVIDED ADVOCACY SUPPORT AT THEIR CHILD'S SCHOOL MEETING AND 149 RECEIVED ONE-TO-ONE COACHING FOR TO ADDRESS INDIVIDUAL NEEDS.
