Our vision is to build equitable communities where everyone can lead healthier and happier lives through physical, social, and emotional well-being by co-designing sustainable change and promoting equity and well-being across the life span.
Miami-Dade Age-Friendly Initiative (AFI): is a collaborative effort focused on sustainable changes and efforts in order to create a community where older adults of all ages can stay active, engaged, and healthy with dignity and enjoyment. UHP coordinates between community stakeholders, organizations, and residents to implement this county-wide effort to make Miami-Dade a great place for healthy aging in place. Live Healthy Little Havana - is an initiative promoting healthier living with the goal to strengthen community capacity to improve the lives of residents in Little Havana. Our programming has focused on community engagement, improving mobility options and access to parks, and creating systems changes by connecting with residents. Live Healthy Miami Gardens - is an initiative and maintain a community culture of health and well-being for all residents of the city through access, information, activities and services for residents in Miami Gardens. Our work has focused on improving mobility options and understanding current opportunities and needs through outreach and mapping. Food for All Broward - is an initiative to expand access to healthy foods for residents of all ages, abilities, cultural and economic backgrounds. By collaborating with local municipalities over the next year, the aim is to increase healthy eating options by co-developing policy and system changes that will facilitate healthier, thriving communities by strengthening and expanding the food system across Broward County.
Broward Complete Streets Initiative: The Broward Complete Streets Initiative focuses on the importance of creating a transportation system that addresses the needs of all users of the road, including the needs of people who walk, bike, drive and take transit. UHP works together with the Broward Metropolitan Planning Organization to make the initiative a success this includes working on walking audits of corridors to identify opportunities for improvement, working with community engagement events to promote Complete Streets, and working with the Complete Streets Advisory Committee.
Safe Streets Summit - The Safe Streets Summit brings together national speakers, elected officials, planners, engineers, and community partners to work toward designing safer and better connected transportation facilities for all modes, ages, and abilities. UHP works to showcasing nationally-recognized leaders, and promoting innovative and sustainable practices to prioritize and implement Complete Streets throughout southeast Florida.
