ART AND LIVING COLLECTIONS MANAGEMENTTHE COLLECTIONS AND CURATORIAL AFFAIRS DEPARTMENT AND HORTICULTURE AND URBAN FARMING DEPARTMENT OVERSEE RESEARCH, CARE, CONSERVATION, INTERPRETATION AND DISPLAY OF VIZCAYA'S ART AND LIVING COLLECTIONS, INCLUDING THE HISTORIC INTERIORS, GARDENS AND GROUNDS.ACTIVITIES AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS: - IMPROVED POLICIES AND PROCEDURES FOR THE PROTECTION OF ART COLLECTIONS IN CASE OF DISASTER. - RESTORED HISTORIC SCULPTURE ON THE BARGE FOLLOWING DAMAGE INCURRED DURING HURRICANE IRMA. - RESTORED HISTORIC GARDENS AND REPAIRED GREENHOUSES FOLLOWING DAMAGE FROM HURRICANE IRMA. - CONTINUED THE PROJECT FOR THE CONSERVATION AND INTERPRETATION OF THE HISTORIC SWIMMING POOL GROTTO. - SUCCESSFULLY ENTERED TWO PLANT COLLECTIONS INTO THE AMERICAN PUBLIC GARDENS ASSOCIATION'S PLANT COLLECTIONS NETWORK FOR CONSERVATION AND REFERENCE PURPOSES. - MAINTAINED URBAN FARM PLOTS FOR EDUCATIONAL FARMING ACTIVITIES. - CONDUCTED ONGOING EVALUATION AND ACCESSION OF ORCHID COLLECTION. - HELD INTERNATIONALLY ATTENDED PUBLIC SYMPOSIUM ON SUSTAINABILITY AT HISTORIC SITES AS IT PERTAINS TO GOVERNANCE, COMMUNITY RELEVANCE AND THE ENVIRONMENT.
FACILITIES MAINTENANCE SERVICES ($3,490,787)ALL FACILITIES-RELATED CAPITAL AND MAINTENANCE EFFORTS ARE DIRECTLY RELATED TO THE PRESERVATION OF VIZCAYA'S CAMPUS OF NATIONAL HISTORIC LANDMARK BUILDINGS AND CENTRAL TO OUR MISSION. CUSTODIAL SERVICES ARE FOCUSED ON MAINTAINING PUBLIC SPACES AS PART OF OUR MISSION-BASED NEED TO SERVE VISITORS WHO ARE ATTENDING EDUCATIONAL TOURS AND PROGRAMS OR TO SERVING OTHER PROGRAMS AND SERVICES.ACTIVITIES AND ACCOMPLISHMENTS: - CONTINUED WORK TO COMPLETE CAPITAL REPAIRS NECESSITATED BY HURRICANE IRMA. - INSTALLED NEW ADMISSIONS BOOTH TO ACCOMMODATE INCREASED VISITATION. - REPAIRED BASEMENT FLOOD DOORS AND FILLED MULTIPLE BASEMENT WALL PENETRATIONS, RENDERING THE MAIN HOUSE MORE FLOOD RESILIENT. - THE MAIN HOUSE'S SOUTH MEZZANINE AIR HANDLER UNITS WERE REPLACED WITH NEW UNITS. - CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTS FOR REPLACEMENT OF THE MAIN HOUSE AND CASINO ROOFS WERE SUBSTANTIALLY COMPLETED. - CONSTRUCTION DOCUMENTS FOR THE REVITALIZATION OF THE HISTORIC VIZCAYA VILLAGE PHASE 1 WERE SUBSTANTIALLY COMPLETED.
