PROVIDE SERVICES AND PROGRAMS FOR WOMEN, TEENS, CHILDREN, AND FAMILIES OF MIAMI-DADE COUNTY.

EARLY CHILDHOOD PROGRAM - THE YWCA OPERATES AND MANAGES FIVE EARLY LEARNING CENTERS, IMPLEMENTING A WELL-STRUCTURED, ANTI-BIASED DEVELOPMENTALLY APPROPRIATE CURRICULUM. EACH OF THESE CENTERS MEET STRICT NATIONALLY ESTABLISHED ACCREDITATION STANDARDS, SERVING APPROXIMATELY 407 CHILDREN FROM SIX WEEKS TO FIVE YEARS OF AGE. THE YWCA OPERATES FIVE SPECIALIZED DROP OFF CENTERS THAT PROVIDE INTERVENTION AND PREVENTION ACTIVITIES FOR APPROXIMATELY 2,311 CHILDREN FROM INFANTS TO AGE 12 WHOSE FAMILIES ARE ATTENDING JUDICIAL HEARINGS.

YOUTH PROGRAMS - YWCA ELEMENTARY AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAMS OPERATED ON-SITE AT LOCAL PUBLIC SCHOOLS, AN APARTMENT COMPLEX AND YWCA CENTERS. STARTED IN 1976, THIS PROGRAM MEETS THE NEEDS OF WORKING FAMILIES BY PROVIDING ELEMENTARY SCHOOL CHILDREN WITH A SAFE AND SUPERVISED ENVIRONMENT THAT INCLUDES AGE APPROPRIATE ACADEMIC AND ENRICHMENT ACTIVITIES DURING OUT OF SCHOOL TIME. CURRENTLY OPERATING IN MIAMI-DADE COUNTY PUBLIC SCHOOLS AND CENTERS FROM SOUTH MIAMI TO NORTH MIAMI-DADE, THE YWCA SERVES APPROXIMATELY 367 CHILDREN DAILY. THIS GLOBAL EDUCATION AFTERSCHOOL PROGRAM AIMS TO OPEN THE WORLD AND BUILD TOLERANCE AND ACCEPTANCE FOR OUR STUDENTS BEYOND THEIR ZIP CODE WITH OPPORTUNITIES FOR STUDENTS AGES 4-12 TO USE CURRENT EVENTS TO CONNECT THEM TO WHAT IS GOING ON AROUND THEIR NEIGHBORHOODS AND THE WORLD AROUND THEM AND PROVIDES: ART, COMMUNITY SERVICE PROJECTS, FINANCIAL LITERACY, GLOBAL EDUCATION, HOMEWORK ASSISTANCE, LITERACY DEVELOPMENT, NUTRITION, SOCIAL AND EMOTIONAL LEARNING, AND PHYSICAL FITNESS. THESE PROGRAMS ARE OFFERED YEAR-ROUND DURING THE SCHOOL YEAR, SPRING BREAK AND SUMMER CAMP.YWCA'S TEEN PROGRAM IS COMMITTED TO PROVIDING LIFE ENRICHING EXPERIENCES FOR INNER-CITY YOUTH, IN LOW INCOME NEIGHBORHOODS, WITH THE GOAL OF REDIRECTING THEM TOWARDS MORE POSITIVE PURSUITS INCLUDING TECHNOLOGY, PEER COUNSELING, TUTORING, ATHLETICS, CULTURAL AND RECREATIONAL FIELD TRIPS. THESE PROGRAMS SERVE APPROXIMATELY 75 YOUTHS AND INCLUDE THE COMPUTER CLUBHOUSE, MENTORING, CAREER EXPLORATION, ACADEMIC ENRICHMENT, ARTISTIC EXPRESSION, DROP-OUT PREVENTION, FINANCIAL LITERACY, TECHNICAL SKILLS, AUDIO ENGINEERING IN YWCA-OWNED MUSIC STUDIOS.

COMMUNITY PROSPERITY PROGRAMS- THIS PROGRAM OFFERS SERVICES TO WOMEN AND THEIR FAMILIES THAT ASSIST THEM IN IMPROVING THEIR QUALITY OF LIFE. SERVICES INCLUDE THE PROSPERITY PROGRAM (FORMERLY THE ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM), DESIGNED TO EDUCATE LOW AND MIDDLE INCOME WOMEN, CHILDREN, AND FAMILIES IN ALL ASPECTS OF FINANCIAL MATTERS AND ASSIST THEM TO DEVELOP SOLID FINANCIAL PRACTICES. BEGINNING WITH CHILDREN PROVIDE THE BASIC SKILLS TO BREAK GENERATIONAL FINANCIAL HABITS. THE PROSPERITY PROGRAM INCLUDES FINANCIAL EDUCATIONAL, CASE MANAGEMENT, AND FINANCIAL PLANNING COUPLED WITH CLIENT INCENTIVES AND MATCHED SAVINGS. FAMILY SERVICES PROGRAMS ALSO PROVIDES HOLIDAY ACTIVITIES THAT INCLUDE MEALS AND GIFTS TO FAMILIES IN NEED, AND SPECIAL NEIGHBORHOOD EVENTS THAT STRENGTHEN THE FAMILY UNIT. APPROXIMATELY 496 WOMEN AND FAMILIES WERE SERVED, WHICH INCLUDES 193 CHILDREN. YWCA LAUNCHED MIAMI'S FIRST WOMEN'S TECHHIRE CENTER IN APRIL 2019 TO UP-SKILL WOMEN ENABLING THEM TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF LIVING-WAGE JOBS IN THE SOUTH FLORIDA'S GROWING TECHNOLOGY INDUSTRY. THESE CERTIFICATIONS ALLOW WOMEN THE SOCIAL MOBILITY NEEDED TO PROVIDE ECONOMIC SECURITY TO THEIR FAMILIES. TECHHIRE CENTER WOMEN ARE THEN ABLE TO PLUG INTO THE NETWORK OF YWCA SERVICES SUCH AS YOUTH ENRICHMENT FOR THEIR CHILDREN, FINANCIAL LITERACY OR HEALTH CARE THROUGH OUR BREAST AND CERVICAL CANCER SCREENINGS.
